• Our Problem Solving Methods and Communicating Mathematics modules engage with real-world problems that graduate mathematicians are likely to face. You’ll also get the option to take a year-long placement between the second and third years to further enhance your skills and explore professional interests.
• Previous graduates have gone on to study MSc Mathematics at Russell Group universities and pursue other specialist masters. Graduates from this course went on to work in law, accounting, finance, and as mathematicians. Supporting physical and mental health is central in all areas of life and employment. This master's degree integrates the promotion of health and wellness with a focus on mental and physical health. You'll gain the knowledge, clinical practitioner and professional skills you need for a career working with clients and patients in health-related settings. You'll also have the opportunity to undertake hands-on learning through a professional placement (the placement option is not available in the 2020/21 academic year due to COVID-19).

This MSc has been developed for psychology graduates (or a related discipline, such as health studies, counselling, mental health, nursing, or public health) and current health and mental healthcare professionals wishing to further their studies, develop their knowledge and skills and enhance their career opportunities.

During the course, you'll be examining health, wellness and illness to understand the relationship between psychological variables and biomedical conditions as well as physical and mental health and wellbeing.

Studying BSc Medical Biochemistry with us will introduce you to new ideas and products that are applied to some of the biggest health problems of today. You’ll study the subject with a focus on human biology and medicine. Core themes will include chemistry, immunology, and molecular biology. There are two honour degree programmes to choose from - one is a three-year Bachelor of Science (BSc), and the other is a four-year Master of Science (MSci).

Access to the labs is dependent upon any restrictions resultant from the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.

How you’ll practise your skills

• Our course is unique among other medical biochemistry degrees because we focus on getting you work experience throughout your time with us. You’ll have the option of taking a year-long industry placement that’ll help you develop your transferable skills. We also have a work experience module that’ll allow you to increase your chances of employment and practice working in the scientific field. Workplace learning is under the control of our employer partners who may need to restrict access to placement learning in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.
• You’ll learn through a series of computer-based sessions, practically focused learnings, and workshops. This mixed learning style will ensure you’re practising your skills in hypothesis formation, data collection, analysis, and interpretation as you learn. In addition, you’ll get the chance to become a member of the Middlesex Biochemical Society and gain experience as part of different research groups.

Our course combines broad theoretical skills of modern psychology practice with a focus on the neuroscientific explanations and research of human behaviour.

You’ll study in the psychology department which has some of the most high-tech equipment available. Haematologists specialise in disorders of the blood and blood-forming tissues, and their contribution to patient care is fundamental and wide-ranging. Whether you're analysing data from patients' samples, matching donated blood with someone who needs a transfusion or researching cures for blood cancers, your work will improve and save countless lives.

This Masters programme has a strong practical element, with an emphasis on developing laboratory skills and gaining hands-on experience of diagnostic techniques. It also incorporates elements of microbiology and clinical biochemistry and you'll be able to study and learn within the University's specialist laboratories which include a modern, well-equipped cell culture facility, fully-equipped proteomics facilities and a microbiology lab. You will have access to a molecular biology laboratory for techniques such as DNA sequencing, real-time PCR, electrophoresis and HPLC. You'll also learn to use cutting-edge techniques such as MALDI-TOF mass spectrometers and flow cyto meters.

If you do not wish to study the full MSc, you can apply to the PGDip where you study only eight modules, omitting the Dissertation, or a PGCert where you study only four modules.
