Our practice and research-based course will challenge you to explore, question and evolve as a photographer. The course provides you with a creative and energetic working environment in which to produce a major photographic project using some of the best traditional and state-of-the-art facilities in the UK, encouraged and supported by world-class academic and technical staff.

At Middlesex, our practice-led approach to photography ensures you spend your postgraduate studies fully immersed in both making work and thinking about its connections with wider photographic discourse. Through a series of photographic projects, or a single large project, you will experiment with both new and traditional photography and whether behind a camera, in post-production or reflecting critically on your practice, you will be thoroughly supported by a staff team of research-active, photography practitioners. Our social work degree – which is fully accredited by the Social Work England (SWE) – has been designed and revised to give you the knowledge and professional skills to succeed in the field of social work. Through a mix of teaching sessions, interactive workshops and e-learning resources, you’ll familiarise yourself with the most current policies and practices, and build the skills and knowledge to collaborate confidently and effectively with a range of service providers, service users and their carers.

As part of this course, you'll learn during workshops, tutorials and discussions, as well as writing reports, presentations and working as part of groups. You'll reflect on what you learn in your journal, and work towards your final year project where you research an area you are really passionate about.

A huge part of this course includes learning on the job during a work placement. Over the course of two placements, you will get to grips with what it's actually like to do the job of a social worker. Embedded in organisations where you will undertake statutory tasks (local authorities and independent fostering agencies for example), you will learn what you need to know to succeed in your career.

You will enrol on a four-year course which includes the one-year foundation year. The number of students who progress to degree study is very high. The Foundation Year in Performing Arts is taught in our excellent studios and facilities at our Hendon campus by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses. You are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures.

Reflecting this need for a more corporate perspective and strategic approach to communications this course, developed with industry experts, is designed for new graduates with a background in marketing, media, management and social sciences, and practitioners seeking career development. The course also has a strong emphasis on the application of theory to practice through activities such real-life case studies, problem-solving exercises and a residential week or a virtual industry based conference with industry professionals

The course focuses on three strands key to the field; ‘Strategic Analysis and Thinking’ enhances understanding of markets, and the application of critical and analytic methods in solving communications problems; ‘Execution’ develops skills around writing and presenting communications plans and advertising briefs; and ‘Tools, Media and Settings’ contextualises the use of both traditional and innovative modes of communication in different settings, whether social, national or global.

This degree offers a broad scope of study, giving you the opportunity to create your own course as you study all aspects of sports science. Studying a combination of sports and exercise sciences will give you a wide range of knowledge and understanding regarding scientific methods used in sports science.

Ranked as the top university in London for Sports Science (The Complete University Guide 2020), this course is taught by active sports professionals involved in coaching, sport rehabilitation and performance. We have extensive industry links to some of the biggest names in the field including Tottenham Hotspur Academy, Barnet FC, Leyton Orient FC, Health South USA, and Anatomie Sports Injury Clinic.

The course is based in our modern facilities at Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, so you’ll have access to research labs, as well as conditioning and fitness suites during the 3 years of the programme, and when available to access if social distancing is in place. The equipment you can use includes the UK’s most advanced 3D motion analysis equipment and a DXA scanning body composition machine, plus many more.

Supporting athletes to perform
During this course you’ll develop the skills needed to support athletes to perform at their peak while reducing the risk of injury. You’ll develop your understanding of biomechanical and physiological theories, as well as your psychological skills.

You’ll integrate professional practice into your studies as you complete 50 hours of placements every year. This is a crucial opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge by working with athletes. The availability of placements is subject to cooperating organisations and we are working closely with our partners to ensure we have as many available as possible even during COVID-19. Due to COVID-19, the total number of placement hours required to pass the module may be altered under the guidance of the Accredited Professional Bodies or the University where applicable.
