BA Honours Interior Design

This course combines specialist knowledge with the context of tourism in the global economy and provides a range of contemporary options taught by staff with recent practical experience in the industry. You will gain direct experience of the sector through the practicum module and enterprise module.

You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skills (due to Covid-19, access to the specialist software may be online rather than in on-campus labs). Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more.

Build your information systems skills

• You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.
• We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

The Foundation Year in Economics is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BSc Economics (Financial Economics)

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. Interior architecture degrees typically focus on the adaptation and remodelling of existing buildings, bringing together the practices of interior design and architecture in one. Our course can also be taken over four years instead of three, to include a one-year professional placement within the design industry, to be taken after your second year. You'll gain substantial professional practice and you’ll receive an Advanced Diploma Professional Practice: Interior Architecture & Design at graduation.

How you’ll develop your design skills

• During your studies, you’ll have access to our interior architecture and design studios, which are specifically designed to mirror the environment of a professional design studio. We have five studios to use by individuals and groups alike. The studios have Apple iMacs with an array of design software, a library of design and architecture books, and storage for your models.
• Our students are often involved with various, public-facing projects. In 2018, our Interior Architecture students collaborated on a project with Alexandra Palace, a historic entertainment complex in north London. In 2017, our students were challenged to create a pop-up exhibition space in King’s Cross with a brief that challenged them to consider materials, public movement, and the artistic work displayed.
• Learning also happens outside the studio and classroom. Our students go on field trips in London and abroad, where you can partake in collaborative projects with students from other universities.
• Graduates from this course gain valuable and transferable skills the creative industry is looking for. Many have gone on to work in specialist design studios and consultancies, in roles like interior designer, space planner, exhibition designer, and interior architect. It also opens doors to career paths in the environment sector, education, media, retail, and entertainment.

Haematologists specialise in disorders of the blood and blood-forming tissues, and their contribution to patient care is fundamental and wide-ranging. Whether you're analysing data from patients' samples, matching donated blood with someone who needs a transfusion or researching cures for blood cancers, your work will improve and save countless lives.

This Masters programme has a strong practical element, with an emphasis on developing laboratory skills and gaining hands-on experience of diagnostic techniques. It also incorporates elements of microbiology and clinical biochemistry and you'll be able to study and learn within the University's specialist laboratories which include a modern, well-equipped cell culture facility, fully-equipped proteomics facilities and a microbiology lab. You will have access to a molecular biology laboratory for techniques such as DNA sequencing, real-time PCR, electrophoresis and HPLC.
