As the course has been developed in partnership with NHS Trusts, you’ll spend 50% of your study time on placement in our prestigious partner hospitals, which we’ll help you secure. Our nursing course is approved by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, guaranteeing the highest standard of education.

Nursing can be a rewarding and flexible career you can shape according to your interests. Once you graduate and become a registered children’s nurse you can choose to specialise, pursuing paths like neonatal intensive care, oncology, and even opting to become a school nurse.

How you’ll learn to apply your nursing skills

• Our high-tech facilities and simulation suites will help you apply all the theoretical knowledge gained in a practical setting. The suites come equipped with the latest simulators for practise of realistic emergency care situations. A number of life-like mannequins will be on hand alongside all the professional training equipment you’ll need.
• Thanks to our excellent relationships with NHS trusts across London, we can help you secure a placement in several highly sought-after spots. These include Barts Health NHS Trust, Marie Curie Hospice, Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, plus many more.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto our three-year media degree courses listed below. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Film

This BA has been designed to get you into the diverse film industry, bringing together both theoretical and practical learning.

You’ll be following in the footsteps of a long list of decorated alumni, the likes of which have gone on to work on the latest Star Wars productions, for Disney, the BBC, set up their own companies and continued their studies at the National Film and Television School.

Challenging, diverse and always evolving – this master's programme prepares aspiring media professionals to meet the challenges posed by a period of unprecedented change in the local and global media environment. There are numerous and diverse professional pathways in the creative and digital economy and this course is designed to prepare you with key sector skills such as digital media marketing, audience engagement and data analytics to ensure you succeed in the workplace.

Additionally, this offers a wider analytical perspective on the issues affecting media and creative industries and gives emphasis to equipping you with soft skills, new styles of leadership and an appreciation of creativity as an integral part of management practices in the field.

This programme combines applied and theoretical knowledge and understanding to equip you with the vital skills necessary for a successful management career in the media. This degree weaves academic learning into the economics and finance context internationally and includes the option to take a valuable paid placement year where you'll be exposed to applying economics into action. You can choose to do short term internships in choice public, private and voluntary organisations such as government departments, financial sector, banks, risk and insurance sectors, investment and broking firms, retail and manufacturing firms, start-ups and charities among many others.

This degree will equip you with key skills in economics and finance, including data analysis, group presentation and discussion, writing and report preparation. It's been designed for students who are interested in starting up their own businesses, involved in running and managing businesses or becoming financial and economic analysts.

You'll gain a working knowledge of both theoretical and empirical methods that can be applied to the industry and world context. The topics included are:

Our product design degree gives you the knowledge, practical skills and industry experience to build a portfolio that will help you launch a career in a wide-range of sectors.    

Product designers are the visionaries who bring people and technology together. A BA in product design will open up both creative and technological career opportunities in areas that range from industrial design and engineering to mechanical design and creative technology.

Through project-based study, you'll develop the expert skills and understanding to combine aesthetic functionality and innovative technology. You’ll spend your first year studying a combination of product design and product design engineering to get a broad understanding of the fundamentals of both practices before choosing whether to continue with the BA Product Design or move across to our BEng Product Design Engineering programme.

You’ll also showcase your work in our final year degree show, where you’ll have the chance to share your products with industry employers and build valuable contacts.
• Our guest lectures from leading UK and international design experts and designer-in-residence scheme gives you the chance to build your industry knowledge, gaining valuable feedback on your portfolio. We’re also partnered with our design and innovation centre, redLoop, which gives you unique opportunities to work on real design and technology development projects.
• You’ll have the option to gain valuable professional experience by spending your third year in an industry work placement leading to a Diploma in Industrial Studies. Our network of creative professionals also means you’ll have access to prestigious work experience placements throughout your product design course.

Our sociology BA teaches you essential hands-on skills while you develop the research ability and theoretical knowledge that allows you to understand the effects of social issues on society. Our sociology courses are taught within an interdisciplinary department of our School of Law, bringing you in contact with some of the leading scholars in the industry.

You will have the freedom to choose your modules and focus of study in your second and third year meaning you can tailor your degree to your individual interests and future career goals. The programme itself has a strong focus on race and "decentering" the discipline of sociology, making it ever more relevant in today's world and making intersectionality a central feature of your study and practice. You'll also have the opportunity to take on a work placement or study abroad.
Build your hands-on practical skills

• You’ll be part of our thriving learning environment, with a specialist teaching approach that gives you plenty of support throughout your studies. You’ll also get a free electronic textbook for every module as part of your course.
• You’ll have the option to extend your course by a year to spend your third year building your employability skills as part of a paid work placement at a community organisation or NGO. Our academic advisers will help you find your placement and give you the support you need to complete a winning application.
• You can also choose to integrate work experience within the existing programme by taking the relevant volunteering and work placement modules. If you're looking to expand your resume, a study semester abroad with one of our partner institutions can really develop your skills and breath of study, and give you a new perspective for your career.

The Foundation Year in Accounting and Finance is offered as an entry route to a business degree for those who don't yet meet the entry requirements for degree-level study.

BSc Honours Business Accounting

Our flexible three-year and four-year study options give you the chance to develop your professional and practical skills through work experience in the industry. You’ll have the opportunity to take two 18-week summer placements as part of a three-year degree, or a 36-week paid work placement in your third year as part of a four-year approach.

After your first year, you’ll have the option to switch to our accounting course if you decide that a career as a qualified accountant is a better fit for you, though this is dependent on the standard of your academic results.

Our information systems degree gives you the skills, experience and expertise you need to succeed in the computer-based sector – and beyond.

You’ll get to grips with the specialist equipment, systems and technologies that will give you the experience, expertise and confidence to apply your skills (due to Covid-19, access to the specialist software may be online rather than in on-campus labs). Our degree will prepare you for career paths that range from organisational management and systems architects to chief information officers and enterprise architects.

This is an interdisciplinary course meaning the content's structured in ways that map explicitly to modern technology, including systems design, application development, client-side programming, and much more

Build your information systems skills
You’ll have the opportunity to take a year-long, paid work experience placement as part of a four-year study path (subject to securing an organisation that is able to support such a placement during the COVID-19 pandemic). We’ll also give you industry professionals and work experience opportunities to help you further develop your professional skills and network. In the past, our students have taken part in Sky's hackathon which tested their knowledge and team-working skills.

We’re in the process of gaining BCS (British Computer Society) accreditation for our computer science degrees, which means you’ll be able to gain BCS membership once it’s awarded.

The new MA Higher Education is intended to attract those interested in the study of Higher Education as its own field of study. The new range of modules on the new programme reflect the changing landscape of Higher Education

This flexible and accessible course is designed to work around you. Aimed at academics and those supporting learning in Higher Education, and beyond including local Further Education Colleges, other higher education institutions, training providers and those with an interest in the sector. The course explores the literature in teaching, learning and assessment together, to help you critique and apply generic and subject specific pedagogies and carry out related research across a broad range of disciplines and roles.

During the foundation year you will learn how computers are used by a broad range of people and organisations as well as acquiring fundamental software development skills and knowledge of hardware. You also gain relevant mathematical and statistical skills and develop useful communication skills.
