You will enrol on a four-year course which includes the one-year foundation year. The number of students who progress to degree study is very high. The Foundation Year in Performing Arts is taught in our excellent studios and facilities at our Hendon campus by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses. Taught by industry-recognised experts, this course will enhance your clinical practice and expand your theoretical knowledge in the fields of cardiac rhythm management and clinical electrophysiology. Teaching covers a breadth of subjects, from advanced signal processing to biomedical ethics and law — providing a solid grounding in research methodologies, experimental design and statistics.

A central objective of the course is to enable students to critically evaluate the legal requirements for human experiments and ethical issues relating to research with human subjects and human tissue. You will acquire in-depth knowledge of the technologies used in diagnostics and research, solving complex problems related to disease investigation. With a significant leadership and management component, the course will also help you understand and apply the principles of health and safety, quality control, research and statistical methods in their professional lives.

This course is designed for healthcare practitioners, including physicians, nurses and physiologists, already working in the field of cardiology, particularly cardiac rhythm management and electrophysiology. Suitable for graduates who are interested in a research or an academic career, the course provides the knowledge and skills required for further study at doctoral level.

During the course, there's an emphasis on applying practice to theory in a business environment. This gives you the opportunity to see how businesses develop their products, manage their operations and innovate in their markets. To this end, a large part of the course is taking part in a work placement so you can apply what you know in a live environment.You will develop essential skills and knowledge in business management and will study modules designed to expand your knowledge of the behaviour of people in organisations, the financial aspects of business, and the wider business environment.

At the end of Year 2 you can take a year-long placement option before returning to complete your degree. In your final year, you will advance your skills and knowledge in business management and can also choose to study a business start-up, managing business projects, or a research project.

Our flexible course lets you tailor your studies to gain the skills, project experience and professional networks you need to achieve your engineering career ambitions in the field of robotics – and beyond. With the option to study our robotics course over a three-year (BEng) or four-year (MEng) period, you’ll gain the technical knowledge and project experience that will give you a competitive edge as a robotics engineer.

You’ll explore all aspects of engineering to get a broad understanding of robotics, design, electronics, mechatronics and networking solutions. Using the latest hardware and software, including LabVIEW, SolidWorks and STEP-7, you’ll also learn to develop systems that control physical motion – such as the ones you’ll find in robotic applications and industrial automation.

Build your robotics engineering skills
You’ll have the flexibility to tailor your studies to complement your personal interests and career ambitions. From year two, you’ll have the option to carry on with your BEng Robotics or transfer to a design engineering or mechatronics programme.

If you’re applying for our four-year MEng course, you’ll also gain your master's qualification as soon as you successfully finish your undergraduate study.

Our weekly guest lectures give you the chance to enhance your industry knowledge and build contacts with some of the industry’s leading experts and companies. They’ll also give you the help, advice and feedback you need to start building your professional portfolio while you study.

Our London location gives you access to industry contacts, work experience opportunities and the chance to showcase your work at design engineering competitions. You’ll also have the option to get a feel for the industry with a paid, year-long work placement.

Studying BSc Mathematics with us will open a lot of career doors, whether you want to pursue the subject professionally or join an industry that’s looking for your skills. You can also add a fourth year to your studies and pursue an MMath qualification.

You’ll study a combination of traditional maths alongside modern topics like communicating maths. Lectures will introduce theory while workshop and lab study will develop your ability to apply it in practical settings.

You’ll be taught in highly interactive groups that’ll allow you to explore problems and find solutions in a supportive environment. A series called 'Engaging with Mathematics' brings in professionals to talk to students about possible careers, opportunities available, and all the wonderful ways maths can be applied outside the classroom.

Apply your theoretical knowledge

• Learning to apply your maths skills in the real world throughout your studies will prepare you for the world of work. One way you’ll do this is by joining staff in different outreach events that bring maths to the general public. In recent years these have included the award-winning SMASHFest and the Skills Show in Birmingham NEC.
• Our Problem Solving Methods and Communicating Mathematics modules engage with real-world problems that graduate mathematicians are likely to face. You’ll also get the option to take a year-long placement between the second and third years to further enhance your skills and explore professional interests.
• Previous graduates have gone on to study MSc Mathematics at Russell Group universities and pursue other specialist masters. Graduates from this course went on to work in law, accounting, finance, and as mathematicians. A mathematics degree equips you with a whole host of transferable skills that employers find desirable in today’s world of work.

Sports Performance Analysis is an area experiencing massive growth, virtually every professional club and elite athlete employ or work with performance analysts who provide them with objective data to ultimately improve sporting performance. Roles typically include preparing statistical reports, preparing specific videos i.e. set pieces, coding matches via performance analysis software, identifying differences between teams/players via statistical analysis etc. This master’s course prepares students to work as a performance analyst by giving you the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge and skills to fulfil those roles.

Learn from academics who regularly work and consult with international teams, national governing bodies, elite clubs and athletes. Our pioneering programme is designed to prepare you for accreditation with the International Society of Performance Analysis of Sport. You will learn how to identify and develop performance indicators, how to create performance profiles, how to test reliability and get to grips with performance analysis software that is used in the industry.

You will gain experience as a performance analyst through our work-placement module. One of our partner organisations is Saracens Rugby Club and our facilities are housed at their nearby Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club, where we boast world-class performance laboratories, rehabilitation units and testing facilities (access may be restricted depending on COVID-19 restrictions). You will build invaluable industry contacts and we maintain contact with many of our graduates who have gone on to work in professional sport with clubs like Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, Charlton FC, Saracens RFC and organisations like the English Institute of Sport, the RFU and the Lawn Tennis Association to name a few.

Our visual effects course gives you access to some of the best VFX facilities, studios and workshops in the country. Led by our team of experienced VFX professionals who’ve worked professionally on films including Avatar, Planet of the Apes and Happy Feet, you’ll learn the practical skills you need to succeed in the industry.

• You’ll master the professional-standard software and equipment – and put your skills into practice with a variety of hands-on experiences. You’ll collaborate with students from our Film, TV Production and 3D Animation courses to see how visual effects plays a key role across a variety of platforms. You can also enhance your employability skills with a range of work placements opportunities. VFX graduates have gone on to secure roles as matchmove artists, rotoscope artists, modellers, texture artists, and junior compositors.

Build your hands-on visual effects skills

• We’ve got some of the best facilities, studios and workshops available. You’ll learn to use professional-standard equipment in our digital media, VFX and motion capture studios, and have access to the latest computer hardware and software, including professional level graphics workstations.
• During lock-down conditions students will be able to access school computers using remote desktop software from home. All you will need is a computer with an internet connection.  Students without computers at home may borrow laptops from the university.
• Our industry guest lecturers, networking opportunities, and client-designed briefs allow you to learn how to enter the field and work experience placements.
• You’ll have the option to spend your third year building your hands-on experience as part of an industry placement. Students must seek out and secure their own placements. You’ll also receive credit that reflects your ability in the field to give you a competitive edge. Our VFX graduates have pursued exciting careers with television companies, broadcasting organisations, film studios, independent production houses, online streaming services and specialist VFX studios.

An effective supply chain goes beyond the successful input and output of goods and services. This complex discipline, with elements of IT, logistics and procurement, is increasingly important in today's globalised environment of interconnected networks.

In recent decades, organisations have become increasingly reliant on effective supply chains in order to compete in the global market. This course equips you with a global view of the strategic and operational processes you need to manage the key functions of these supply chain processes, including transportation, warehousing, inventory management and production planning. If you want to learn how businesses work and how to manage people, then this is the degree for you. You’ll learn about the theory and practice of how businesses operate and what their environments are like. You’ll also study a variety of management styles, alongside the law and practices related to managing people.

You’ll be supported by a team of tutors who have industry experience. You will be exposed to key HR practices such as hiring practices, HR law, the ethics of employment and other abilities you'll need during your career.

You’ll undertake a work placement so you can apply your skills to a live work setting. Using our industry connections, we'll help you find a role in the HR team of a top company, in an industry relevant to your interests. You can do this over the course of a year or over two summers. Past students have done placements with the NHS, The Walt Disney Company, and Hays Recruitment.

• Developing the essential skills and knowledge to succeed in business management, you will focus on modules such as strategic management, leadership, and business development.
• You’ll build your key business skills with us, including workshops, role-plays and discussions as you analyse case studies and business management practices.
• We also ensure that you build your specialist knowledge and the ability to deal with stakeholders, business resourcing and process, as well as understanding strategy, production and distribution of products and services.

During your BSc in Public Health, you’ll be encouraged to take on a work placement so you can gain professional and practical skills in the workplace. You’ll embed with a local authority or NGO and work on an aspect of public health you're interested in, working on a research project at the same time. Such placements are under the control of our employer partners who may restrict access to placement experience in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak.
