Develop sporting and coaching skills

• Our philosophy means the scientific approach lies at the heart of this sports course. You’ll learn how to support athletes to reach their peak and perform at the right time while reducing the risk of injury.
• We believe in building a portfolio of practical skills, which means a large part of your studies will be spent practising in Barnet Copthall Stadium, home of Saracens Rugby Club. This degree is designed to provide you with an in-depth understanding of crime and criminal justice at national and international levels. It promotes a critical and comparative approach to crime and justice issues intended to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to deal with a range of traditional and non-traditional crime, justice and deviancy issues.

The course looks at contemporary problems such as terrorism and the priorities of global policing, human rights and justice, environmental justice and transnational crime. The international and transnational dimension of crime is an integral part of the programme.

Criminology at Middlesex has a particularly strong international reputation. The Department was pioneering in an in?uential strand of criminology called 'left realism', and established one of the very ?rst courses of its kind in the UK, which is still considered to be one of the leading postgraduate criminology courses.

Interior architecture is distinct from the better known field of interior design, though the two are linked. Interior architecture degrees typically focus on the adaptation and remodelling of existing buildings, bringing together the practices of interior design and architecture in one. This course incorporates a diverse range of buildings across the public, private, and commercial spheres.

We’ll encourage you to develop an individual style, independent thinking, and innovative ideas. We give all our students the skills needed to address real-world situations in an imaginative and dynamic way, preparing you for the world of work.

Our course can also be taken over four years instead of three, to include a one-year professional placement within the design industry, to be taken after your second year. You'll gain substantial professional practice and you’ll receive an Advanced Diploma Professional Practice: Interior Architecture & Design at graduation.

How you’ll develop your design skills

• During your studies, you’ll have access to our interior architecture and design studios, which are specifically designed to mirror the environment of a professional design studio. We have five studios to use by individuals and groups alike. The studios have Apple iMacs with an array of design software, a library of design and architecture books, and storage for your models.
• Our students are often involved with various, public-facing projects. In 2018, our Interior Architecture students collaborated on a project with Alexandra Palace, a historic entertainment complex in north London. In 2017, our students were challenged to create a pop-up exhibition space in King’s Cross with a brief that challenged them to consider materials, public movement, and the artistic work displayed.
• Learning also happens outside the studio and classroom. Our students go on field trips in London and abroad, where you can partake in collaborative projects with students from other universities.
• Graduates from this course gain valuable and transferable skills the creative industry is looking for. Many have gone on to work in specialist design studios and consultancies, in roles like interior designer, space planner, exhibition designer, and interior architect. It also opens doors to career paths in the environment sector, education, media, retail, and entertainment.

You enrol on a four-year course, which includes the one-year foundation course. If you complete this year successfully you progress directly onto one of our three-year degree courses in these subject areas. The number of students who progress to degree study are very high - in fact some of these students have gone on to become some of our most successful graduates.

BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations)

The BA Criminology (Policing and Investigations) shares its core with the BA Criminology, while offering a series of modules with a focus on contemporary policing and investigations, together with options for relevant practice-based placements.

We will build on your ability to make confident decisions, help you spot market opportunities, adopt team working skills, apply critical attitudes towards leadership, think creatively and develop as an entrepreneurial leader. You will then apply these skills in a number of situations, including the mentoring of undergraduates with entrepreneurial aspirations and working on live cases to innovatively solve problems for small enterprises.

Covering everything from diagnostics and monitoring to analytical and intervention procedures, you’ll gain an expert understanding of the heart, how it functions, and how to provide treatment to patients of all ages. Through a mix of virtual and on campus laboratory work and industry placements, you’ll also develop your expertise in echocardiography, pacemaker implantation, exercise stress testing, electrocardiograms (ECGs) and blood pressure measurement.

Computer Science influences every aspect of modern life and is one of the fastest-moving academic disciplines and has a huge impact on both economic competitiveness and human wellbeing. This course not only offers a balance between advanced computer science theory and practical experience, but has a very strong focus on contemporary research. Practical work is an important part of every module and the School of Science and Technology has strong links within the industry, including company giants such as Microsoft and Siemens.

The university is very active in the exploration of a number of key areas within computer Science which you will have the opportunity to focus upon during your studies and individual research project.
