This degree weaves academic learning into the economics and finance context internationally and includes the option to take a valuable paid placement year where you'll be exposed to applying economics into action. You can choose to do short term internships in choice public, private and voluntary organisations such as government departments, financial sector, banks, risk and insurance sectors, investment and broking firms, retail and manufacturing firms, start-ups and charities among many others.

This degree will equip you with key skills in economics and finance, including data analysis, group presentation and discussion, writing and report preparation. Combining chemistry with biochemistry, this course will give you a grounding in pharmaceutical chemistry and the skills needed to work in the field.

During the course you’ll cover all aspects of pharmaceutical drug development, such as target identification, synthesis, clinical testing and trials, alongside building your knowledge of the main branches of chemistry.

Our pharmaceutical chemistry course is designed to the standards of the Royal Society of Chemistry. During the course you’ll be taught by an academic team with links to the industry that include GlaxoSmithKline, Novartis, and Johnson Matthey.

Building your chemistry skills in a lab environment

• Divided into four broad themes, you’ll cover all aspects of chemistry including core chemistry knowledge, practical skills, pharmaceutical knowledge, and numeracy and computational skills. You’ll build your analytical and research skills so you can collect and interpret experimental data.
• You’ll develop your chemistry skills in a high-tech laboratory. Access to the laboratory spaces at the Hendon Campus may be restricted in light of the ongoing Covid 19 outbreak, You will have access to a bioscience suite with a scanning electron microscope, microbiological and molecular equipment, as well as a host of other analytical technologies.
• As part of the course you will also take part in a work placement, gaining valuable industry experience in an organisation or laboratory. Access to placements may also be impacted by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

The Foundation Year in Economics is taught by the same lecturing staff who teach on our degree courses and you are taught in small group seminars, workshops and lectures. You will be able to develop transferable skills in business, communication and problem-solving.

BSc Economics

You’ll develop your advanced theoretical knowledge as well as a practical understanding of all aspects of accounting and finance. Often known as the science of uncertainty, statistics is of vital importance in modern society where almost all sectors rely on the collection, analysis and interpretation of data. There is a great shortage of well qualified statisticians, data analysts and statistical consultants across the sector and this course has been specifically designed to meet that demand.

Applied statistics involves putting theory into practice - not only summarising and describing data, but extrapolating from it to draw conclusions about the population being studied. This is an applied, practically-orientated course that gives you advanced knowledge of statistical methods and the theory that underpins these methods. With a strong emphasis on relating theory to practice, you will develop your analytical, logical, numerical and problem-solving, skills that are in such high demand with employers.
