In addition to taking period papers focusing on literature from 1550 to the present day, you’ll study rhetoric and stylistics. You will also study classic philosophical texts from antiquity to the present day, which investigate the nature of the world and how we ought to interact with it.

Advance your powers of engagement with both literary texts and the issues and contexts with which they engage, while analyse the relationship between the individual and the state, and the sources of state authority and forms of government.

The study of Art History gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The parameters of the Art History major at NCH have been set as widely as possible, from Europe to China, with a time span that extends from antiquity to the contemporary. The courses include cultural surveys as well as more intense media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape, painting and ceramics. The Economics minor enables you to understand and think rigorously about economic theory, and about the causes, consequences and implications of economic events, trends and ideas.

The single honours Law LLB allows you to go into extra depth in the study of law.
