With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, you can choose one of Politics, Philosophy or History as your major, and will study the other two as joint minors. The central aim of our PPH programme is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects.

Attain your Qualifying Law Degree, plus study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, and complete a three-year immersive professional development programme to give you the skills and behaviours you’ll need to pursue a career in Law.

The single honours Law LLB allows you to go into extra depth in the study of law. In addition to the courses required for the Qualifying Law Degree, you will study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Through these courses, you will, amongst other things, learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, as well as discovering discrimination law and workers’ rights. Studying the History with Data Science BA (Hons), you will develop both your historical knowledge and your ability to communicate it effectively. In a world of transborder digital connections, with escalating social activism, fake news, cybercrime and artificial intelligence, digital sovereignty, sustainability and security are at the intersection of the most pressing contemporary 21st Century Politics problems.

Contemporary International Relations (IR) faces two main challenges: the first relates to ecological sustainability and the second to digital spaces. Both challenges pose new power shifts, influences and organisational structures in an increasingly interconnected world. These challenges are often regarded separately, however they are both uniquely complex and multifaceted.

The MSc in Digital Politics and Sustainable Development is an interdisciplinary programme, looking at how these two challenges interact and the unique approaches to tackle them. Drawing on political science, political theory, philosophy, and computer science, you will explore the increasingly urgent phenomena of social activism, fake news, cybercrime, artificial intelligence, and sustainability within a unique and compelling programme.

Analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner and learn to compare different texts and other art forms, while engaging with the theoretical and applied nature of studying law, using your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.

Studying the English with Law BA (Hons) will help you to analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner. You will study rhetoric, stylistics, and learn to compare different texts and other art forms. You will engage with literary criticism, as well as well as studying literature from 1550 to the present day. You’ll complement these studies with the both theoretical and applied nature of studying law, in which you will use your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.

The Combined Honours Law LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

Your Law with English LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. You will also study three courses in English, allowing you to develop complementary skills of analysis – of legal and fictional texts – and essay writing.

Our English with Psychology BA (Hons) combines the study of English Literature and Psychology.

Combine the broad traditional coverage of traditional English degrees with distinctive features from the liberal arts tradition, such as language comparisons and literary criticism, through your English major. Complement these studies with your Psychology minor, which helps you develop an in-depth understanding of the biological, cognitive, and psychosocial factors underlying behaviours which will be reflected in personality dynamics and, ultimately, the work of an author or poet.

Our Economics with Law BSc (Hons) will provide you with a full understanding of the forces shaping the way we live. Studying Economics, you’ll engage with the structures that make for wealth and well-being, as well as learning the quantitative skills needed to engage with academic economics as commonly practised. In your Law studies, you will learn about the legal forces which constrain how individuals act, and which thus have an impact on the wider societal structures that you will study in Economics.
