The English with Art History BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression. You’ll take courses covering literature from 1550 to the present day, and you’ll explore forms of literature such as political speeches, the plays of Shakespeare, and responses to them.  For your Art History minor, you’ll study different forms of visual art in detail and their aesthetic and cultural contexts. These studies will allow you to make connections between art and the literature you study for your English major.

The Philosophy with Economics BA (Hons) will enable you to analyse the world with clarity, precision and rigour. You’ll engage with central questions, arguments and theories concerning our place in the world and what our actions ought to be. In the Economics minor, you’ll study how people act, and how we can influence them to act otherwise. You’ll learn about all the factors that dictate the real events and decisions that are taking place in the world today, as well as developing the quantitative skills needed to engage with the subject as commonly practised. 

Analyse political institutions and their actions effectively gaining a deeper understanding of states, how they interact with each other, and the comparisons between them, as well as learning about the wider structures which influence human well-being and wealth. Develop the quantitative skills needed to engage with academic economics as commonly practised.

The Politics & International Relations with Economics BSc will equip you to analyse political institutions and their actions effectively. You will gain a deeper understanding of states, how they interact with each other, and the comparisons between them, as well as learning about the wider structures which influence human well-being and wealth. You will also develop the quantitative skills needed to engage with academic economics as commonly practised. You will take a course in political theory, and compare that with your knowledge of current political institutions and the real-life economic events and decisions which take place within them. 

With the Philosophy, Politics & Economics BA (PPE – Economics) at NCH, you study Economics as your major, and will study Philosophy and Politics as joint minors. The central aim of our PPE program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects.

You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these institutions work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. Through your Philosophy minor, you will develop the skills to engage with central philosophical questions, arguments, theories and texts.

This MA Philosophy is an excellent preparation for a PhD and a career in academia. It also develops critical reasoning, logic, and systematic approaches to problem solving, alongside an ability to analyse an issue from a broader perspective, all of which are highly valued by employers in a variety of fields. The MA Philosophy programme at NCH provides a rigorous and wide-ranging programme relevant both to those entering formal philosophical study as graduates of other disciplines and to philosophy graduates seeking to consolidate and expand their studies.

The study of Art History gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The parameters of the Art History major at NCH have been set as widely as possible, from Europe to China, with a time span that extends from antiquity to the contemporary. The courses include cultural surveys as well as more intense media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape, painting and ceramics. The Economics minor enables you to understand and think rigorously about economic theory, and about the causes, consequences and implications of economic events, trends and ideas.

With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, you can choose one of Politics, Philosophy or History as your major, and will study the other two as joint minors. Study political theory and political science, while examining governance, institution-building, decision-making and socio-cultural linkages among state and non-state sectors, while learning to communicate your knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms.

Politics & International Relations with Data Science BSc (Hons) will not only equip you with knowledge of political institutions and their interactions but also with the ability to communicate that knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms. You’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other institutions. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these organizations work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. In your Data Science minor, you will be able to effectively use databases, systems and analytical tools to generate insights and intelligence.
