Our Economics with English BSc (Hons) will help you develop wide-ranging analytical skills and apply them to a range of objects. Through your Economics major, you will develop quantitative skills and study the structures which affect real-life decisions around the world. Through studying works of literature and their cultural and economic contexts for your English courses, you will develop excellent communication skills highly valued by employers.

The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The Philosophy, Politics & Economics BA (Hons) at NCH offers three separate pathways to the degree. The Philosophy pathway enables you to study Philosophy as your major subject, comprising 50% of your undergraduate degree, alongside Politics and Economics as joint minors, each of which will form 25% of your degree studies.

The central aim of our Philosophy, Politics & Economics BA (Hons) programme is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects.

Examine the organisation of government, questions of political science and institution-building with your Politics & IR major, while complementing these studies by exploring biological, cognitive, and psychosocial areas of contemporary scientific psychology.

The Politics with Psychology BSc (Hons) combines the study of Politics & International Relations with Psychology.
Your Psychology minor complements these studies by exploring biological, cognitive, and psychosocial areas of contemporary scientific psychology, leading to differences in social behaviours and attitudes and personality dynamics.

This innovative degree allows you to consider how the psychology of individuals shapes government, as well as how sociocultural links affect international relations. You will gain valuable skills in critical thinking, communication and the analysis of behaviour, which will prepare you for a range of careers in public and private sectors, such as policymaking, civil service, marketing and communications and consulting.

The Combined Honours Law LLB is a Qualifying Law Degree, covering all of the Solicitors’ Regulation Authority and Bar Standards Board required areas of study to permit progression onto the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister.

Your Law with English LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. You will also study three courses in English, allowing you to develop complementary skills of analysis – of legal and fictional texts – and essay writing.

The Law with Creative Writing LLB (Hons) will allow you to prepare for your career and follow your passions. In your degree, you will take all of the courses required for a Qualifying Law Degree, preparing you to take the professional training courses for qualification as a solicitor or barrister. For your Creative Writing minor, you will develop your writing in a variety of forms from poetry, scriptwriting, short stories to creative nonfiction, enabling you to communicate your legal arguments with clarity.

The Philosophy with Economics BA (Hons) will enable you to analyse the world with clarity, precision and rigour. In the Economics minor, you’ll study how people act, and how we can influence them to act otherwise. You’ll learn about all the factors that dictate the real events and decisions that are taking place in the world today, as well as developing the quantitative skills needed to engage with the subject as commonly practised.

You’ll develop your knowledge of the contexts of these texts in your History minor, and learn to reflect critically on the complex, and often contradictory, information available to us now about the past.

The Politics & International Relations with Economics BSc will equip you to analyse political institutions and their actions effectively. You will gain a deeper understanding of states, how they interact with each other, and the comparisons between them, as well as learning about the wider structures which influence human well-being and wealth. You will also develop the quantitative skills needed to engage with academic economics as commonly practised. You will take a course in political theory, and compare that with your knowledge of current political institutions and the real-life economic events and decisions which take place within them.
