In your Philosophy major, you’ll learn about the way people have thought, through rigorously analysing language, critically assessing historical perspectives of the constitution of the world, and going on to create arguments around classic and modern texts with precision and consistent accuracy. In History, you will study the way people have lived, through reflecting on the complex, and often contradictory, information about the past that is available to us now.

The Art History with Law BA (Hons) will allow you to follow your passion and prepare for your career. The Art History major gives you the opportunity to see and interpret moments in history through their architecture and material culture. The course combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. For your Law minor, you will study key issues in Law thematically, allowing you to develop commercial awareness highly valued by a range of employers.

The Art History with History BA will allow you to interpret moments of history as manifested in works of art. Both your major and your minor include surveys of historical periods and their cultures, which are then supplemented by media specific and period specific courses in Art History and History respectively. You’ll learn about painting, ceramics, architecture, and landscapes, alongside broader reflections on the nature of the historical discipline and its applications.

The Politics & International Relations with Creative Writing BSc (Hons) will not only equip you with knowledge of political institutions and their interactions but also with the ability to communicate that knowledge creatively and accurately to a wide range of audiences, in a diverse variety of forms. You’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other institutions. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these organizations work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. In your Creative Writing minor, you will hone your craft by writing poetry, scripts, creative non-fiction, and immersive journalism, amongst other forms.
