Studying the History with Data Science BA (Hons), you will develop both your historical knowledge and your ability to communicate it effectively. You will explore a broad range of historical periods from the Roman Empire through to present-day America in depth, and take courses examining the historical discipline itself, and its practice and applications. You will also learn to effectively use databases, systems and analytical tools to generate insights and intelligence.

Attain your Qualifying Law Degree, plus study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, and complete a three-year immersive professional development programme to give you the skills and behaviours you’ll need to pursue a career in Law.

The single honours Law LLB allows you to go into extra depth in the study of law. In addition to the courses required for the Qualifying Law Degree, you will study Employment Law, and Legal Research and Advocacy, Commercial and Company Law. Through these courses, you will, amongst other things, learn how legal cases are constructed and presented in court, as well as discovering discrimination law and workers’ rights. The central aim of our PPH program is to increase your understanding of, and ability to engage with, central questions, arguments, and texts in Philosophy, Politics and History, and to provide a lively sense of interrelations between these subjects. With the Philosophy, Politics & History BA (Hons) at NCH, history will be your major and you will study the other two as joint minors. In each year, you’ll study two courses in your major subject, and one course in each of the remaining two minor subjects.

The Philosophy with Art History BA will help you bring a clarity and rigour to your thinking about topics such as morality, metaphysics, and art. Particularly of interest for you will be the third year philosophy course in Aesthetics – studying the philosophy of beauty and the philosophy of art, ranging from Plato’s claim that we should rid ourselves of all poets to Hegel and Arthur Danto’s assertion that art has ended. You will also, in your minor, study particular artistic media, such as painting, ceramics and architecture.

Investigate expressions of the central questions in human life learning how to deal with these issues in a clear, precise and rigorous way, while developing skills to deal with abstract critiques and principles and to engage in text-based analysis of the arguments of philosophy and literature.

Compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing from where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other organisations. and how artists and culture have responded to those institutions.

The Politics & International Relations with Art History BSc (Hons) will provide you with knowledge of the kinds of institutions people live under, and how artists and culture have responded to those institutions. You’ll compare the political institutions of different countries, analysing from where they derive their legitimacy and how they interact with other organisations. You’ll take a course in political theory, questioning not only how these institutions work, but also how thinkers have theorised they ought to work. At the same time, you’ll take a survey course that will provide a broad overview of the history of European art, as well as studying more media-specific courses focusing on paintings, architecture, and so on.

You will also learn to write effectively in a diverse number of literary forms, from script-writing, immersive journalism, and short fiction to creative non-fiction.

The Art History with Creative Writing BA (Hons) will allow you to study the full range of artistic expression and hone your writing skills. The programme combines cultural surveys with more intense, media-specific subjects including architecture, landscape and painting. Through your Creative Writing minor, you’ll develop the tools to approach a broad range of literary forms from a creative and critical perspective, from short fiction to immersive journalism, poetry, and scriptwriting.

Analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner and learn to compare different texts and other art forms, while engaging with the theoretical and applied nature of studying law, using your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.

Studying the English with Law BA (Hons) will help you to analyse texts in both a creative and a technical manner. You will study rhetoric, stylistics, and learn to compare different texts and other art forms. You will engage with literary criticism, as well as well as studying literature from 1550 to the present day. You’ll complement these studies with the both theoretical and applied nature of studying law, in which you will use your skills of language analysis to make precise arguments about the nature of different legal documents.
