Get a flying start and accelerate your progress towards being an ICAEW Chartered Accountant by putting classroom theory into commercial practice, with integrated paid work placements.

The ‘Flying Start’ degree is a collaboration between Newcastle University, PwC and ICAEW. It is the most established degree of its kind. It combines academic study and integrated paid professional work placements in PwC’s Audit practice. You'll progress towards the ICAEW Chartered Accountancy qualification, the ACA.

The financial services sector has experienced worldwide growth. This has increased the demand for students with specialist skills and competencies in finance. This course will suit you if you are interested in the following careers:

This accredited four-year degree provides training in key and emerging topics such as cyber security, data science and bioinformatics. This ensures you graduate prepared to meet the evolving needs of the industry.

You'll be based in the truly inspiring Urban Sciences Building, and study at a world-leading centre in computing innovation and industry collaboration.

By studying a broad curriculum in your first two years, you'll develop knowledge in different aspects of computing science, and gain highly desirable skills in problem solving, program design and implementation.

From your third year you can specialise in a particular area of computer science or build your own broad based degree.

We created the PG Cert, PG Dip, MSc Data Science in collaboration with a number of high profile industry leaders. It aims to address the skills shortage in data analytics.

Our master's in Data Science brings together students and industry practitioners to develop and translate new technologies into industry practice.

You'll receive a comprehensive grounding in the theory and application of data science. You'll develop a multi-disciplinary combination of skills in statistics and computer science. You'll also gain the ability to apply these skills to real problems in a given application area.

This programme follows the same programme as our Marine Technology with Naval Architecture BEng Honours degree. It focuses on developing skills across all aspects of the design and operation of ships and other large floating structures. You'll gain a broad engineering education. This equips you with key engineering skills engineers apply to industry-specific problems. This accredited degree also provides a direct route to Chartered Engineer status.

You'll have the opportunity to deepen your knowledge in advanced topics of naval architecture during your third and fourth year. You'll specialise in a field that interests you. This enables you to graduate in your chosen specialism tailored to your career of choice. Specialisms include:

• Offshore engineering, including offshore design, marine structures, and offshore engineering
• Small craft technology, including small craft design, marine structures and small craft hydrodynamics)

In Year 4 you'll develop your technical and professional-standard skills. This will be through a final group design project.

We work with industry so your studies reflect the challenges engineers face in the real world. You'll have hands-on practical learning and optional industry placements. They give you the opportunity to put your theory into practice. You'll gain invaluable experience in the sector.

This three-year English Language BA Honours degree encourages you to explore the English language in all its diversity – past and present, national and international, offline and online.

You'll investigate how English has developed over time and how it's used to mark regional, social and stylistic distinctions. You will learn from subject experts, world-leading researchers in English Language and Linguistics. You will:

• Study how English has evolved over time, how it is acquired, and how it develops in the mind
• Examine the grammatical structures and sound systems of different varieties of English
• Explore how historical, social and other contexts impact variation in English

Our professionally accredited Marine Engineering degrees provide a pathway to becoming a Chartered Engineer and prepare you to face challenges associated with the various specialisms.

This foundation year will help you build the base knowledge you need to progress to any of our marine technology BEng degrees.

This is a full-time programme of study covering core mechanical engineering topics, including:

• Foundation mathematics
• Applied mechanics
• Material science

The Foundations in Clinical Psychology master's degree offers world-class tuition and pastoral support. From this, you'll gain key knowledge and understanding. It will equip you with all the skills you need to enter the world of clinical psychology and research. This MSc does not require extensive psychology experience. You may be an intercalating MBBS student.

You'll learn through:

The course provides you with a sound basis to apply for an assistant psychologist post. You'll gain academic and research skills to apply for further training. You must also have relevant work experience to explore this. This may include the following vocational training:

The Cross-Cultural Communication and International Management MA provides theoretical, research and practical training in international and intercultural communication and international business management. 

This master's in Cross-Cultural Communication and International Management celebrates diversity in cultural contexts. It focuses on the skills, competences and knowledge essential in today's global business environment.

The International Management pathway is a specialism of the Cross-Cultural Communication MA. It allows you to study international business management and intercultural communication. It responds to the growing internationalisation of business and management practice. Academic staff from Newcastle University Business School (NUBS) deliver this specialist pathway.

This flexible general engineering degree is taught across Civil, Electrical & Electronic and Mechanical Engineering. You'll study general engineering themes throughout your degree. You'll develop diverse skills relevant to the needs of industry and today’s global challenges.

You'll specialise in one of three streams during the second year of the degree, whilst continuing to develop in-depth knowledge across the following disciplines:

• Civil Engineering

This MEng degree includes an additional year of master's-level study which will deepen your knowledge.

Our MEng degrees are also a direct route to becoming a Chartered Engineer (CEng). You don’t need to study any more qualifications after your degree to work towards chartered status.
