Our MSci Chemistry with Study Abroad course is suited to you if you want to deepen your understanding of the subject and broaden your experience by studying chemistry at an overseas university during your third year.

The first two years are common to all of our degree courses. You will study fundamental concepts in inorganic, organic and physical chemistry and applications in areas such as analytical, environmental, materials and theoretical chemistry.

You will develop your ability to design experiments and interpret results, and gain key skills through our chemistry-specific communications and mathematics units.

You will spend your third year studying abroad in the chemistry department of an English-speaking university before returning to Bristol for your final year. You will explore the full range of plant biology, from enzymes to ecosystems. You will gain knowledge of the diversity, evolution and function of plants and of the latest developments in functional genomics, bioinformatics, plant developmental biology, plant pathology, parasite biology, cell signalling, pollination biology, ecology, plant conservation and systems biology.

The degree starts broadly and introduces more choice in years two and three, including a week-long field or laboratory-based course and a ten-week practical research project.

The University Botanic Garden is nearby. It was the first new university botanic garden to be built for 40 years and holds more than 4,500 plant species.

We have outstanding facilities in our brand new state-of-the-art Life Sciences Building and our lecturers are world-leading researchers in their fields.

This four-year course covers a broad range of subjects organised into three streams:

• Aerodynamics
• Dynamics and control
• Structures and materials.

These subjects are specialised from day one and are taught with aerospace applications and examples.

The first two years are devoted to core concepts, which are taught via lectures and backed up by practical experience through coursework and lab work. Further material, such as space applications and aviation operations, are covered in specialist units.

You will also learn skills that cross all the streams, such as computing, systems engineering and design. There is extensive mathematical content throughout.

In year three your research project allows you to tackle a problem in detail, such as the automated landing of an unmanned air vehicle (UAV), design of a potential space mission, or experimental testing of advanced composite materials.

In year four there is greater flexibility for you to pursue options that interest you. Some units relate to particular application areas, such as helicopter aerodynamics, space systems or wind power. Others study particular technologies, such as composites analysis or experimental aerodynamics or you can choose to undertake a research project.

The diversity of topics in aerospace engineering makes this a challenging degree but the reward is a uniquely broad education.

This four-year MSci course is for those considering scientific careers that will make direct use of their subject-specific knowledge and skills. The first and second years of this course are identical to MSci Chemical Physics but during year three you will spend 12 months on a placement as a paid employee in a company.

You will focus on areas at the interface between chemistry and physics, with limited treatment of organic chemistry and more physical and non-synthetic inorganic chemistry. Similarly, there is very little nuclear and particle physics after your first year but an emphasis on materials science and nanoscience.

As well as lectures and practical classes, small-group tutorials and workshops help develop your understanding of challenging and exciting concepts. Practical labs in both chemistry and physics help develop experimental techniques, computational modelling and programming skills needed in the final year for conducting a research project with a research team.

This four-year degree combines years one, two and four of our MEng Aerospace Engineering with the chance to spend your third year at an English-speaking partner university overseas.

The first two years cover underpinning material organised into three streams:

You will rejoin the course in Bristol for your final year and will choose from a range of topics. Some options relate to particular application areas, such as helicopter aerodynamics, space systems or wind power. Others study particular technologies, such as composites analysis and experimental aerodynamics, or you can choose to undertake a research project.

This degree combines the challenging, broad academic content of all our courses with an overseas dimension that reflects the multinational nature of the modern aerospace industry.

The course is designed for students who seek to broaden their knowledge on the economy and understand the linkage with accounting. Therefore, it combines two courses, economics and accounting.

The economics aspect provides students with insight into economic institutions (eg banks), actors, and policies that underpin and influence the financial market. The accounting aspect explores accounting institutions (eg audit firms), accounting regulations, and accounting techniques that are used by and support organisations that actively participate in and outside the market.

This course is unique as it offers students access to an interdisciplinary perspective that includes psychology and sociology. Students learn from academic experts in the field, who work with businesses in the financial industry. The knowledge acquired from the field is used to design and shape the curriculum, thereby enabling students to keep abreast with commercial and contemporary issues.

The course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) and the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) by way of exemptions from some professional examinations enabling students to fast-track their careers.
