The MA Chinese-English Audiovisual Translation is designed to prepare students to work in the fast-growing audiovisual sector of the language industries. The driver for industry growth is the ubiquitous availability of video content. Audiovisual translation accounts for up to a third of language services activity both in China and internationally.

The program focuses on technological competence and practical skills building in a range of audiovisual translation modes. The program also offers a broader grounding in key concepts and audiovisual industry dynamics. Students build their core skills through compulsory units in applied translation, CAT tools, translation theory and concepts in audiovisual translation. They can then take options in subtitling, videogame localization, introduction to specialised translation or translation and international film distribution. Students can do a research-based or a practice-based dissertation; the dissertation must be on a topic related to audiovisual translation.

Our intensive, one-year, MSc Management with a specialism in Project Management is for graduates from a wide range of subject backgrounds. The MSc Business Analytics is a one-year specialist program for graduates with a bachelor’s degree with a substantial quantitative component, and highly qualified graduates from other backgrounds with demonstrable advanced quantitative skills. It will suit graduates or early career professionals who wish to pursue a career in business analytics across sectors including digital marketing, human resources, logistics, retail, banking, insurance and healthcare.

The MSc Business Analytics will equip students with the skills and ability to develop actionable insights on customer behaviour, market trends, and business opportunities based on data and statistical methods. Students will also gain an understanding of the strategic value and managerial implications of business analytics, in line with a socially responsible and ethical use of data.

You will learn statistical and machine learning techniques for data mining and forecasting, social media/web analytics, modelling analytics for data-driven decision making, linked to practice and theory.

You will gain a critical understanding of organisational, societal, and ethical issues in the use of business analytics in decision making and the development of data-driven business solutions.

This program, accredited by both the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) and the Institute of Direct and Digital Marketing (IDM), has been designed for graduates who aspire to a career or advanced study in marketing. Childhood studies at Bristol provides you with a holistic understanding of children, childhood and adolescence, combining elements of education, psychology, law, social work and social policy.

This course is ideal for students interested in learning more about how to use numbers and data within childhood studies. It provides training in practical and analytical skills, which will enhance your career prospects and provide you with a strong platform for postgraduate study. No prior knowledge of statistical techniques is required.

About two thirds of your studies will follow the single honours Childhood Studies course, where you will consider childhood in the contexts of families, peers and society at both a national and international level. Within a framework of children's rights, you will consider their participation and protection and the provision of services for children and young people.

The remaining third of your course will provide interdisciplinary training in quantitative methods. In year one of the quantitative pathway we discuss how numbers and data are used to tell convincing stories in the media and social research. We consider what is meant by segregation and how it can be mapped and measured.

Year two offers practical classes in social statistics and applied data analysis, which will develop your skills in numeracy and analysis and enable you to undertake your own individual research project in an area of quantitative social science in year three.
