Photography and Film is an innovative multi-genre programme that combines practice, theory and professionalism, encouraging you to acquire unique approaches to these disciplines. It has been developed for students with a passion for independent photography, film and cinema – poetic, narrative, conceptual and documentary - with an emphasis on digital and analogue imagery.

Whether you prefer to work with the still or moving image, you can creatively and conceptually explore film and photography on our inspiring, challenging and rewarding degree. You’ll discover a range of skills such as how the lens can be used creatively as a tool for storytelling and non-linear poetics, specialist and experimental camera techniques, lighting for studio and location work, editing and post-production, to support you on your career path in the creative industries.

Led by professionals bridging fine art, documentary and commercial practice you will develop and research your own ideas in relation to project briefs, learning transferable skills needed to work as an imaginative professional. Recent reports show how vital the automotive sector is to a prosperous UK economy with its contribution reaching over £20 billion. Last year, the manufacturing sector turned over a record-breaking £82 billion, marking the automotive industry as the UK’s largest manufacturing export sector. This is due to the hands of its 814,000 employees, and reports state that up to 28,000 new jobs will have to be fulfilled by 2020. 

This honours degree has been designed for the automotive industry in response to the shortfall of mechanical engineers. It is for those who have a strong interest in mechanical engineering and a clear desire to develop their knowledge and skills in automotive engineering. 

The course fully explores the engineering, design, analysis and development of modern cars using various race cars as support for teaching. It also puts emphasis on learning transferable skills applicable to many other industries.

Throughout the course you will gain a greater understanding of social interaction, individual development and the way in which the brain interprets information that we deal with on a daily basis.

The scientific nature of psychology is emphasised throughout the course with specific modules relating to social psychology, developmental psychology, individual differences, cognitive psychology, and psychobiology. You will develop your statistical and research skills through regular laboratory based practicals and in the final part of the course you will complete a substantial final project on a topic of your choice.
