The Bachelor of Arts degree in music permits the study of music within a liberal arts curriculum and provides a broad coverage of the field of music rather than a heavy concentration in a single area. This degree requires a minor (approved by the advisor) and twelve hours of a foreign language.

Prerequisites

• Students must meet requirements set by the College of Liberal Arts and Communication for entry into the Music Program.
• Admission to the University is required. A strong background in music ensembles and private study is recommended.

The M.S. degree is particularly attractive for students who do not plan a career in basic research, but who want to work in the field of chemistry or a closely related field.

The accounting major prepares students for rewarding careers as industrial accountants, cost analysts, controllers, tax accountants, members of financial regulatory teams such as the IRS or banking auditors, independent auditors in CPA firms, and internal auditors. A-State accounting graduates work for manufacturing firms, in government agencies, in banking, in not-for-profit entities, and in public accounting.

The Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program, a one-year master’s degree plan consisting of 30 semester credit hours, is designed for all engineers on management career paths as well as for those charged with managing technology in engineering, manufacturing, and other high-tech organizations. The MEM degree program will also benefit engineers pursuing licensure in states where candidates for professional licensure are required to have an additional 30 semester credit hours of coursework beyond the bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in engineering. The curriculum consists of courses offered by the A-State College of Engineering and Computer Science.

Program graduates will have:

• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to identify critical issues, formulate realistic solutions, evaluate alternatives, and solve technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to interpret statistical or deterministic models and concepts as well as apply them to technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to express alternatives and solutions dealing with technical problems.
• Graduates of the Master of Engineering Management program will be able to function effectively as a member or leader on a technical team.

The B.A. in English is the quintessential Liberal Arts Degree. English B.A. graduates are likely to be seen anywhere -- sitting in a law school class; reading in a coffee shop on the campus where they teach English; working in a government office; working as a technical writer trying to rephrase something from computer-speak to ordinary English ; or preparing for the ministry in a seminary. The Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders is a preprofessional degree program which provides students with academic and practical preparation considered essential for success in the Communication Disorders graduate program.

The undergraduate curriculum offers students a broad base of preparation in general education requirements, the sciences associated with communication and its disorders, anatomy and physiology, and a number of basic methods courses associated with the identification and treatment of a variety of communication disorders.

The major in business administration provides students with a diversified rather than a specialized program in business and economics. It is designed especially for those who need a broad background of training for managing a business of their own or for students planning to enter a large business which maintains its own specialized training program. This program requires a study of every major sector of business activity, with emphasis on creative thinking which will prepare the student for today's employment as well as for meeting tomorrow's challenges.

The Arkansas State University MBA Program is a professional degree program designed to prepare students of all educational and professional backgrounds for management positions in all types of organizations. As such, the program stresses the development of analytical, problem-solving and decision making competencies for the dynamic, complex global organizational and social environments.

Finance - Concentration
The MBA with a Concentration in Finance is designed to allow students to complement their studies in business administration with in-depth coverage of the core components of ?nance, including corporate ?nance, ?nancial markets and institutions, and investments. Students will complete the 27 hours within the MBA core and 9 additional hours of graduate level ?nance coursework.

The Bachelor of Applied Science (BAS) in Organizational Supervision is a four-year degree program designed to help students transition from a technical expert to a professional leader. The BAS degree is designed with the working adult in mind and is often a common next step for individuals who have an Associate of Applied Science degree and are seeking workforce development or advancement in their current jobs or careers.
Students in the program will gain practical knowledge and academic proficiencies needed to help build upon their technical foundation to provide a pathway to a baccalaureate degree.

Students in art develop insight, sensitivity, and perception toward all aspects of nature while building individual expressive responses. Aesthetic and functional values, creative ideas, and media skills are developed through instructional guidance and applied experience in the studio and classroom. Some of the courses listed here may involve field trips to Memphis Brooks Museum, The Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock, or other regional art collections.

The Bachelor of Arts degree provides a liberal arts-fine arts education, allowing students to pursue their interest in art history. The BA with an art history emphasis is a suitable beginning for a student planning to work toward an advanced degree in art history.
