The study of biology connects us to the world in which we live and reminds us of the awe-inspiring intricacies of the Lord’s creation. From the largest ecosystem to the smallest microorganism, each organism and system is designed to seamlessly work together. So if you share an appreciation of wonders great and small, a biology major might be right for you.

You can anticipate learning both inside and outside of the typical classroom. Sure, you’ll attend lectures, but you’ll also participate in labs and field research to obtain hands-on experience. Many of the required classes are taken in the Concordia Center for Environmental Stewardship, a LEEDS Platinum facility designed specifically for laboratory courses that emphasize fieldwork and environmental ethics.

Over the course of your studies, you’ll take 49 credits of required coursework and 11 credits of related electives.  The required coursework provides a strong foundation in the biological sciences, while the elective coursework allows you the ability to tailor your major to your specific interests.

You will be well equipped for a wide variety of career choices to include graduate studies in any of the life sciences.  The biology major also serves an alternative to the biomedical sciences major for those of you who appreciate breadth in your biology education as you prepare for professions in the medical field, such as pharmacy or medical school.

Our goal in the Master of Occupational Therapy program is to prepare you as an outstanding occupational therapist, who will positively impact communities by empowering others to reach their highest potential through leadership, best practice, advocacy, and innovation. We emphasize the importance of serving all clients with the best care possible.

You’ll develop the skills necessary to enable people (persons, groups, or populations) to do their day-to-day occupations for the purpose of improving or enabling participation. (OTPF-4, 2020) By combining classroom, laboratory, and supervised clinic-based instruction, our courses train you for a wide range of occupational therapy settings.

Through our program you’ll be able to:

• Demonstrate advocacy skills to be an effective change-maker in surrounding communities
• Use best practice for the evaluation, intervention, and measurement of outcomes for individuals or communities
• Effectively and efficiently solve occupation-based problems
• Develop leadership skills
• Effectively communicate and collaborate in a variety of communities

Students in the MOT program will have the opportunity to explore the entry-level Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTDe) degree. At the conclusion of the second semester, students will be given the choice to continue in the MOT program or declare interest in the OTDe program. Students who declare interest in the OTDe will be evaluated by OT faculty to determine eligibility to enroll in OTDe coursework.

This is a full time graduate professional program taught in a blended format. Students interact with their classmates and professors online before and after in person classes, which focus on active learning and/or lab activities. Students apply to and enroll in one of three tracks, as determined by their educational background:

• Accelerated
  • Students starting as a freshman at CUW looking to earn a bachelor's and master's degree in 4.5 years
• Bridge
  • COTAs looking to further their education and opportunities as an OTR
• Post-baccalaureate
  • Applicants holding a bachelor's degree

Concordia University Wisconsin’s School of Pharmacy and the School of Arts & Sciences have partnered to offer a 3+4 dual degree program. In the 3+4 dual degree program, students spend three years at CUW as an undergraduate student taking classes towards a BSPS, while fulfilling the pre-pharmacy course requirements for CUW’s Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) program. Upon admission into the PharmD program at CUW, students begin the four-year PharmD program. Students use courses taken during their PharmD program to fulfill BSPS degree requirements. In the 3+4 dual degree program, students earn a bachelor’s degree at the end of the first year in the Doctor of Pharmacy program, with the PharmD degree awarded at the end of the four-year PharmD program.

It is worth noting that if you are not accepted into the PharmD program, you will be on track to earn a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Sciences after four years of undergraduate coursework. Students who are accepted to the PharmD program (and, thus, earn their bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical sciences), may not double-major in biomedical sciences due to the substantial content overlap between these two programs.
Pharmacy requires extensive knowledge within science, thus our pharmeceutical sciences program is very rigorous. With a career as a pharmacist as your ultimate goal, you strive to be the expert in the biochemistry of the body, the impact of pathological conditions, and the interaction with the pharmaceutical agents prescribed.

Whether you’re an operations manager, a civil engineer or a chief sustainability officer, our MBA in Sustainability Management and Analytics will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge you need to carry out financially successful sustainability. You’ll learn how to use traditional methods like Six Sigma, lean systems and operations research so that you can improve processes, reduce resource use and waste, and make better social and environmental decisions. We’ll show you how sustainability is the source of process and product innovation and we’ll give you the chance to explore a wide range of emerging topics to capture commercial and industrial innovations as they develop.

Throughout your time in the program, our experienced professors will teach you how to develop measures and consequent analyses so you can design and manage products or services in an environmentally sustainable way. You’ll also delve into topics like micro and macroeconomics, decision science, statistical analysis, environmental chemistry and toxicology, environmental law, social entrepreneurship and industrial ecology. And because we want this program to work for you, we offer flexibility first and foremost. Our program is designed for working professionals and can be completed in two years, while working full-time. Plus, we offer our classes at our main campus, our off-site locations and online - so you can join the program wherever you are on the map.

With an MBA in Sustainability Management and Analytics, you’re going to enter the workforce with hands-on experience and expertise in current sustainability practices. You’ll develop the ability to strategically innovate and handle global productions and operations. You’ll have a deep understanding of ecological economics and you’ll be able to utilize tools of the modern sustainability designed building. Not only will you have knowledge of the field, you’ll also have hands-on experience, certificates in sustainability methods, and exam prep if you decide to take the LEED Green Associate exam. Plus, you’ll increase your financial competence, leadership abilities and communication skills through the program’s eight core classes. You’ll even have a portfolio of your work to show potential employers.

One of the most exciting parts of innovation is the opportunity to drive positive change in new and exciting ways. Our MBA in Innovation and Entrepreneurship will help you to do just that. You’ll learn from faculty with real-world experience and work alongside a diverse student body that will open up new points of view. Throughout the program, our professors will engage you in topics like venture capital, intellectual property rights, and long-term planning strategy. Concordia has teamed up with Milwaukee Area Technical College to offer you a four-year liberal arts degree with extensive hands-on experience. That means you can get the best of both worlds: the expert professors or resources offered through MATC paired with a traditional undergraduate experience filled with all of the perks of campus living, including exposure to Concordia’s vibrant faith community.

With this degree program, you can choose between two routes to meet your goals and needs. You can enroll at CUW for a traditional four-year experience that includes access to dorms, student life activities, music or theatre programs, and participation in intervarsity sports and then make the 3-mile commute to MATC’s Mequon campus to take your major courses and have access to MATC’s greenhouse and landscaped grounds. Or, you can complete MATC’s two-year associate degree before enrolling at CUW and then complete the CUW liberal arts core courses plus requirements for a minor in order to earn your bachelor’s degree.
While completing this major, you will learn about the fundamental and technical aspects of horticulture, such as landscape design, maintenance, estimate and bidding, ornamental plants, soils, plant health care, and landscape marketing.  You will also choose to emphasize landscape design, landscape construction, or landscape maintenance and arboriculture through specialized tracks at MATC.

In addition to your horticulture major, you will study environmental ethics, environmental science, and environmental law at CUW and choose a minor. Many horticulture students choose to augment their knowledge of horticulture and plant biology with a minor in areas such as general business, accounting, marketing, management, environmental science, biology, chemistry, or art in order to enhance their vocational goals and interests.

It is a very diverse, crosscutting discipline with vast opportunities, in both public and private sectors, at the local, state, and national levels. In this degree program, you will have the opportunity to personalize your concentration depending on your interest. Regardless of which concentration you choose, all undergraduate students will complete a minimum of 120 credits, including 45 credit hours of general education core curricula, 25 credit hours of required public health coursework, and 3 credit hours of a culminating/capstone project

Robotics, virtual reality, and videogames are often cited as future job areas, but you could also be a part of many other fields—animation, music, automobiles, analytics…the list goes on.

In our modern world, there are decreasingly fewer things that don't rely on computers and technology in some shape or form, making computer science one of the most practical and versatile fields of study out there. With five different concentrations available and substantial flexibility in electives, you have the power to customize this degree and make it your own. In this program, you'll receive a well-rounded education through the Concordia Core, as well as a firm foundation of computer science knowledge through our Technology Core. You'll learn the ins and outs of hardware, software, operating systems, databases, coding, and user interfaces. From there, you can branch out into one or more concentrations of computer science, specializing in the areas that are of most interest to you. More and more, actuaries use data analytics to help assess risk and inform policy. Concordia's new Actuarial & Data Sciences major meets the market's demands by preparing students with current, relevant knowledge and skills in both actuarial science and data analytics.

Actuarial science is an intense field, and will require a sharp, analytical mind, coupled with hard work and dedication to pass the certification exams and practice as an actuary. But it is a rewarding field, and in high demand. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the median pay is over $110K, and the demand for actuaries is expected to increase 24% by 2030.

Actuaries assess risk to help make wise decisions for their organizations. Most actuaries work in insurance, but they can also work in finance, healthcare administration, wealth management, and any other industry where predictions and decisions must be made to mitigate risk.

Like all industries, the actuarial science profession is constantly changing to adapt to new technologies. With the computing capabilities that we now have, actuaries are increasingly dependent on data science and analytics. In 2021, the Society of Actuaries announced a change in their Associate of the SOA (ASA) education requirements, including an updated curriculum designed to meet employer and market demands for increased coverage of data analytics.
