The BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science, offers a course of study combining dance with specific kinesiology and science courses for students interested in teaching careers in dance, dance medicine, careers in dance fitness, or graduate education in the areas of dance science or related dance studies. Students interested in the BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science should meet with Program Coordinator Brooke Winder no later than the start of their 2nd year (earlier for transfer students). Additionally, students must pass BIOL 207 , BIOL 208 , and DANC 260 with a minimum GPA of 2.25 to satisfy the major specific declaration requirements. The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) program prepares individuals for a career as a certified athletic trainer. Athletic trainers (ATs) are health care professionals who collaborate with physicians to optimize activity and participation of patients and clients. The services provided are preventative services, emergency care, clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions. Athletic Training is recognized by the American Medical Association as a healthcare profession. The Master of Science in Athletic Training (MSAT) is a full-time, cohort-model program.

The Master of Science in Athletic Training program is open to all college graduates who have met prerequisite requirements and demonstrate sufficient preparation, potential for professional education, and the ability to perform the essential functions needed to practice as an athletic trainer as determined by an athletic training faculty review of admission documents.

The Department of Journalism & Public Relations offers undergraduate programs that prepare students for careers in journalism, public relations and other media, editorial and storytelling related industries. Students take courses that provide both a strong theoretical foundation and real-life, hands-on training in the skills they need to pursue careers in mass communications. Public relations graduates become public relations professionals in corporations, nonprofit organizations, and communication firms and specialize in employee relations, media relations, community relations, multicultural relations, consumer relations, marketing communications, public affairs, and special event management. In their classes, public relations students learn how to use both traditional and digital forms of media, including social media, to communicate with target audiences. Advanced students become skilled in strategic planning and campaign development. The department offers two academic programs in public relations: A Bachelor of Arts in Public Relations (48 units) and a Minor in Public Relations (18 units).

The objective of the international business option is to prepare students for the increasingly competitive and interdependent international business world with which they must cope. There is great and growing need for American business school graduates to be better informed about how to compete and do business outside the U. S. as well as in the U. S. market where much of their competition is from foreign firms. Students need to understand how international business practices and customs differ from those in the U. S. They need at least some familiarity with a language other than English as well as with cultural diversity and world geography.

Some students wishing to major in English have special interests or career objectives so different from those for which the other options are designed that another pattern of courses would better serve their personal educational needs. For those students, the Special Emphasis option offers an opportunity to pursue individually designed 41-unit programs of study. Student programs may center on technical writing, for example, or other writing goals; they may focus on American or English literature or literature in a particular genre, a particular historical period, or a particular theme.

A Special Emphasis program may include courses outside the Department of English closely related to a student’s focus in English studies. At least 21 units must be earned in the Department of English at CSULB and at least 21 units of the program must be upper division.

The programs in chemistry and biochemistry at the bachelor’s degree level are planned to develop background in a specific science, to serve as preparation for graduate work in chemistry or biochemistry, and to provide a foundation for those students seeking careers in the chemical sciences, teaching, law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and other health?related professions, and in industrial and governmental scientific occupations.

This new degree program is aimed at pre-professional students, who will be able to use many professional school pre-requisites to fulfill their elective unit requirements

The M.S. in Science Education is designed primarily for credentialed K-12 teachers interested in deepening their understanding of science, education, and the teaching and learning of science. The program includes a blend of courses from the Science Education department, the College of Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and the College of Education. The program introduces candidates to Science Education as a field of study, with its own journals, issues, and research areas.

The option in Elementary and Middle School Science Education is designed for teachers who are K-8 generalists. Although aimed at those with a Multiple Subject credential, the program may also be appropriate for Single Subject teachers interested in increasing the breadth of their scientific knowledge. Students completing this option will be prepared to assume positions of greater science leadership at their schools or districts, or go on to further graduate study in Science

The Master of Science in Emergency Services Administration degree program at California State University, Long Beach (CSULB) is fully online, and prepares graduates for organizational leadership and senior-level positions across the emergency services sector. The program's high-quality, wide-ranging courses engage students in theory and research that inform the management of disaster risk. Program coursework culminates in projects or theses that directly strengthen students’ organizations and communities.

The Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering (MSME) program aims to provide students with advanced training in sub-disciplines of mechanical engineering that combines modern engineering practice and rigorous theoretical framework to enhance students’ pursuit of professional careers and doctoral studies. The program involves application of mechanical engineering knowledge and skills to build students’ mastery in the areas of expertise in order to:

Utilize advanced theoretical techniques in the design and/or analysis of engineering systems;

Apply modern experimental and/or computational tools to design and/or simulate engineering systems;

Promote the field of study through research and/or development of novel engineering solutions.
