The Bachelor of Music degree is a high-unit professional degree and requires 132 units for graduation. Music units include the core requirements and one option. Students interested in the BM program must successfully complete an audition for entrance to the program. This should be accomplished prior to entrance to the University. Students wishing to consider the BM program after they have enrolled at CSULB may not apply after they have completed more than a maximum of 96 units.

This degree is designed to prepare graduates for a variety of professional careers in the computer field. The curriculum is designed to provide a balance between the theoretical and practical aspects of computer science. Extensive laboratory time is required for these courses, and design and analysis experiences are emphasized.

When resources are scarce, difficult choices must be made on how resources are to be divided among competing uses. Economics is a social science that addresses the efficient allocation of scarce resources.

Master of Science Accountancy is for students and professionals who want to advance and develop their accounting knowledge in auditing, financial statement analysis, corporate governance, forensic accounting, and taxation required to meet the requirements for CPA licensure.

Typical tasks and responsibilities undertaken by students in the curriculum for this program would not fall within one of the traditional specialties in engineering, e.g. aerospace, chemical, civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, or computer science and engineering. The student may pursue an interdisciplinary program, approved by a graduate advisor, by selecting courses from the various departments of engineering. This program is designed both for students who wish to pursue further graduate study and those seeking a terminal degree. The program seeks to blend theoretical and applied aspects of linguistics and draws from a variety of disciplines.

The Special Concentration Option allows a student to plan an individualized course of study around a special interest. Recent students have designed special concentrations in Psycholinguistics, Computational Linguistics, teaching Spanish, teaching Japanese, and teaching Chinese.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is designed to prepare students for professional careers as performers and/or choreographers. Students wishing to pursue the BFA in Dance must participate in a supplemental audition and interview process in which they must demonstrate strong technical and/or choreographic ability as well as a keen understanding of themselves and a commitment to a professional career in dance. To apply to audition to the BFA, students must have reached sophomore standing, have completed the GE Foundation requirements, and have successfully completed the following course work with a minimum GPA of 3.0: DANC 100 or DANC 300; DANC 120; DANC 161; DANC 182; one unit from DANC 181 or DANC 381 ; 10 units of dance technique from at least three idioms of dance. Students enrolled in required courses at the time of the audition, may audition with a signed Grade In Progress form from the instructor(s) of the in-progress courses. Students may not apply after they have earned 90 Timely Graduation Units.

The Master of Arts in Education, Option in Curriculum and Instruction, Secondary Education (30-33 units) is designed to foster the development of educators who are caring, effective, reflective, and committed to improving their schools. Coursework prepares teachers to apply theoretical insights and research findings to the practical problems they encounter in their work in curriculum and instruction.

The Masters of Science in Gerontology Program provides a flexible interdisciplinary curriculum that gives new and seasoned professionals the competencies necessary for success in the field of aging. It provides experiential as well as didactic graduate education and professional training in gerontology for individuals planning to become professionals in public and private agencies. It provides field experiences to enhance understanding of concepts, themes, and skills related to aging at various life stages, within different gender and racial/ethnic groups and among people with various abilities. Students gain knowledge and skills necessary to plan, develop and implement innovative programs to meet the needs of the growing aging population locally, state-wide, nationally, and internationally. Students are supported in exploring aging-related professional values and ethics.
