Our graduate program offers rigorous philosophical training in a supportive environment, and is ideal for those who are looking to be more competitive in pursuing doctoral studies (either in Philosophy or related fields), as well as those seeking only a terminal MA. The program is also suited for students who were not necessarily undergraduate philosophy majors or else need additional preparation or qualifications before pursuing work at the doctoral level or in professional programs in medicine, law, technology and business, science, etc.

The Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program provides an intensive and fast-track 30-unit degree program to enable its cohort students to earn their graduate degree in 12 months. It is designed to help students identify and analyze various financial management issues to make optimal strategic decisions in today’s global economy. With its focus and alignment to the Chartered Financial Analysts (CFA) curriculum, the program offers students an excellent opportunity to learn practical investment skills and a comparative advantage to ultimately earn the CFA charter, while attaining a reputable MSF degree.

This program affords an opportunity for engineers and others to advance their competency in analysis and design to better meet the high technology needs of local industry. Each student selects two core courses and three graduate courses in one area of emphasis, and the remaining courses must augment and support the area of emphasis. Some current examples of areas of emphasis are Biomedical, Communications/Networking/Digital Signal Processing, Power/ Control Systems, and Electronics/Digital System. Students will choose one of the two alternatives: thesis, or comprehensive exam. Successful completion of a thesis provides a unifying culmination to the program, and an enhanced resume for future industrial or academic endeavor. A limited number of laboratory and teaching assistantships are available to qualified graduate students.

Consumer Affairs is an option within the Department of Family and Consumer Sciences. Our program is one of the leading undergraduate programs in the field. It offers an interdisciplinary study of the financial, legislative, psychological, sociological, and cultural factors involved in consumerism.

Areas covered in Consumer Affairs are Consumer Advocacy and Protection, Financial Management, and Housing. In addition, the course work in Consumer Affairs is complemented by minors in several areas including Business Management, Economics, and Marketing.

Through this diverse yet integrated course of study, students will gain specific skills and knowledge, learn by doing in applied field experiences, and have opportunities for independent study in areas of individual interest. Course of study includes

The programs in chemistry and biochemistry at the bachelor’s degree level are planned to develop background in a specific science, to serve as preparation for graduate work in chemistry or biochemistry, and to provide a foundation for those students seeking careers in the chemical sciences, teaching, law, medicine, dentistry, pharmacy and other health?related professions, and in industrial and governmental scientific occupations.

This new degree program is aimed at pre-professional students, who will be able to use many professional school pre-requisites to fulfill their elective unit requirements

The mission of the graduate program in Computer engineering and Computer Science at CSULB is to provide a high-quality educational experience and the technical specialization required to become successful leaders in industry. The program also prepares the students to pursue advanced degrees if they so desire. The graduate program involves advanced courses in analysis and design in computer software and hardware. The students may choose to do a thesis or take a comprehensive examination as the culmination of their program.

The M.F.A. degree's 60-unit plan of study emphasizes choreographic exploration and presentation in addition to preparing students for teaching careers in higher education. The program provides M.F.A. candidates with theoretical and practice-based study, teaching opportunities, production skills, and a thesis project focusing on the creation of original choreography. CSULB Dance has chosen to keep the M.F.A. degree small and selective in order to provide students with ready resources and mentorship. We seek candidates whose experiences include professional-level investigation and choreography in dance beyond the baccalaureate level. Practitioners of any movement/dance genre are encouraged to apply to the M.F.A. in Dance degree program.

The Master of Public Health in Community Health provides an opportunity for students: to specialize in global health or latino health within the general context of Public Health; to increase competence in designing, implementing, and evaluating social behavior changes programs in preparation for serving in various health agencies; prepare for teaching at college and university levels; and for administrative positions in public and private health agencies.

The BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science, offers a course of study combining dance with specific kinesiology and science courses for students interested in teaching careers in dance, dance medicine, careers in dance fitness, or graduate education in the areas of dance science or related dance studies. Students interested in the BA in Dance, Option in Dance Science should meet with Program Coordinator Brooke Winder no later than the start of their 2nd year (earlier for transfer students). Additionally, students must pass BIOL 207 , BIOL 208 , and DANC 260 with a minimum GPA of 2.25 to satisfy the major specific declaration requirements. The Master of Science in Marketing Analytics program provides students with advanced and highly demanded training in digital marketing tools, marketing research and analytical skills, and other relevant quantitative marketing skills ranging from customer/sales big data analysis, digital marketing management, sales force management strategies, customer relationship management (CRM), new product development, and brand management.
