The BA in in Human Development and Family Studies offers an interdisciplinary approach to individual and family development across the lifespan, providing opportunities for you to study how people develop physically, cognitively, emotionally and socially within the context of the family and society.

It is a versatile undergraduate degree for anyone who is intrigued by human nature and the forces that help shape it. As a graduate, you will be prepared to work with people in a variety of roles, including social and family services, teaching and education, advocacy and non-profit work, and business and health related careers.

The BA in Philosophy (General Track) can enable you to develop a clear personal philosophy (and a clearer grasp of Christian theology), learn about the history of thought, and develop analytical skills — which can be applied to any other field.

The Master of Arts in Theology degree program focuses on the classical theological disciplines of Scripture, church history, theology, and ethics, and reflects Seattle Pacific University’s vision to engage the culture and change the world with the transforming gospel of Jesus Christ. The Theological Integration concentration combines rigorous study in the classical theological disciplines with an interdisciplinary focus. You will be prepared to serve in diverse settings and equipped to live a more integrated life of faith and mission as an administrator, manager, or marketplace or Christian organization professional.

THE SCHOOL OF BUSINESS, GOVERNMENT, AND ECONOMICS DIFFERENCE
For the modern business enterprise, utilizing information effectively is key to creating a competitive advantage. An MS in Information Systems from Seattle Pacific bridges the gap between business and technology, preparing students for leadership at the intersection of technology and business. With the STEM designated MS-IS program, leaders are developed with the management, technology, and problem-solving skills they need to handle complex, globally integrated systems.

Through the applied, experiential, and collaborative-based curriculum at Seattle Pacific’s School of Business, Government, and Economics, students gain purpose-driven leadership skills. They also discover how IT, business principles, and ethical practice untie to lay a foundation to complex, globally integrated systems and service to others as an IT security professional, data analyst, project manager, information manager, or CIO.

 A bachelor of arts degree in Biology from SPU provides a broad foundation if you want to combine another area of study — such as education, environmental studies, law, or science writing — with a solid scientific background.

Biology Major
As a Bachelor of Arts in Biology major, you can expect to study a wide array of scientific subjects — from the inheritance of traits and evolutionary mechanisms to animal physiology and plant identification — all within a framework of ethics, vocation, and faith.

The Integrated Studies major enables you to develop a breadth of knowledge across six content areas you will teach in elementary school: the arts, health and fitness, language arts, mathematics, natural sciences, and social sciences. These are the six content disciplines of Washington state’s Endorsement Competencies for Elementary Education K–8.

If you want to be certified with an endorsement in Elementary Education, you will complete the requirements for (1) a bachelor’s degree in Integrated Studies and (2) the Residency Teacher Certification Program in the School of Education. You can complete all of these requirements in four years. Admission to the Major

As a Bachelor of Arts in Life Sciences major, you have the option of focusing on a specific area of biology (such as physiology, organismal biology, or ecology), or exposing yourself to a broad range of courses.  This flexibility will allow you to complement a second major or diverse career options with a solid foundation in the biological sciences.

The History major and minor programs at SPU seek a deeper understanding of world cultures.

Together we:

• Probe more deeply into the ways our Christian faith can speak to human issues.

The History Department launched a new curriculum in 2020 for its History Majors and Minors. The new curriculum is designed for students to grow in:

• Cross-cultural insight
• Understanding of historic inequalities and the construction of race, gender, and class over time
• The cultivation of empathy for others
• Drawing on the past to address the pressing problems of today 
• Wrestling with the sometimes dark and difficult periods of human history--wars, displacement, and injustice--and contemplating how the Christian story can speak into these challenging moments.
• Cultivating career-oriented skills and professional experiences through a new "Careers in History" class and internship placement support

The new sequence of classes for the majors and minors helps students achieve mastery of an essential skill set in an intentional way: students first take classes in "Thinking Historically," then study "Systems in History," and finally learn to "Do History" themselves.

Our redesigned majors and minor offer students flexibility in their choice of electives while ensuring that students will have broad exposure to many different time periods and world regions.

A Bachelor of Art in Art will provide students with an opportunity to express themselves using a variety of creative disciplines and methods within the visual arts and prepare them for such fields as museum studies, gallery management, curator, teaching, studio artist, graphic design, product design, art therapy, graduated studies in a variety of related fields, fashion, and marketing.

Mechanical engineers apply hands-on physics to model, analyse, and design mechanical and energy systems such as automobiles, aircraft, ships, heating and cooling systems, prosthetics, robots, household appliances, or industrial equipment and machinery.

What’s different? You'll get individual attention from your professors in rigorous, small classes. This degree can be completed in four years at SPU. You'll learn to think critically and solve quandaries through multiple, extended hands-on projects.

Accredited? We are pursuing accreditation through the ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission for the Mechanical Engineering major like we have already achieved for our other engineering majors.

This major leads to a bachelor of science degree.

The degree requirements are identical to the General Engineering/Mechanical Engineering concentration.
