Individuals who are LPNs are eligible to enroll in an accelerated program leading to an AS degree in Nursing and subsequently be in a position to take the licensing examination. The program is designed to assist these professionals’ pursuit of an Associate degree in Nursing (ADN). This program is offered once a year starting in the summer term on the Dale Mabry campus. Nursing graduates are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN) and, upon successful completion, receive the RN license.

The dental hygiene AS degree provides the skills and knowledge to become a licensed dental hygienist. Vital members of the dental team, dental hygienists provide non-surgical periodontal therapy that includes scaling and root planing, adult and child prophylaxis, placement of dental sealants, exposing and processing radiographs, and individualized patient education.

The dental hygiene program includes five consecutive semesters of coursework and requires 35-40 hours per week. Graduates must pass national and state dental hygiene board exams to become registered dental hygienists. Students may also complete certifications in expanded duties that are permitted by Florida Statute Title XXXII for dental auxiliaries.

This pathway is for students who want to pursue a four-year college/university degree in such fields as history, humanities, education, pre-law, political science, museum studies, journalism, library science, archeology/classics or international studies programs. This pathway is broadly designed to allow students to cater the major to their own interests, however, students are encouraged to meet with a full-time history faculty member to discuss their program interests in their first semester at HCC.

Please note only 60 of these credits are needed for AA degree completion. For each pathway, IDS 2891 is a degree requirement, and for most of the pathways, SLS 1106 is required for first?time?in?college students. CGS 2100 may be able to be tested out for no credit. The rise of globalization and new regulatory processes has created a demand for accounting professionals across many sectors of business, government and nonprofit agencies. Accounting technology prepares you for employment as an accountant or accounting paraprofessional in occupations requiring analysis, evaluation, theory, and design. The coursework focuses on basic accounting functions as well as skills common to several fields of business, including finance, business law, and general business topics.

The digital media multimedia game design AS degree teaches you how to create computer games  using graphics, animation, programming languages and specialized software. Prepare for jobs such as desktop publisher, production designer, electronic publisher, illustrator, multimedia specialist, multimedia presentation developer, interface designer, computer graphic designer, and project manager.

The hospitality administration management AA pathway degree is ideal for students who want to pursue Bachelor's degrees in the field of hospitality. It allows a you the ability to complete the 36 hours of general education credits, while meeting the common prerequisite requirements for university admission into the hospitality administration program.

The Communication AA pathway degree is for students who want to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies. The Communication pathway is designed for students with an interest in group dynamics, health communication, persuasion, performance, leadership, gender issues, interpersonal and intercultural communication. This degree prepares students for a variety of careers in event planning, public relations, media, sales, management, marketing, human resources and hospitality.

The database technology AS degree prepares you to work in fields such as database design, programming and administration.

Nursing is a challenging, rewarding career. A nationwide nursing shortage means great career opportunities are available. Accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), our nursing AS degree program takes four semesters, and graduates are eligible to take the National licensing exam NCLEX. The Exercise Science AA pathway degree is for students who want to pursue a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science. This degree can lead to careers in personal fitness, coaching and athletic training, or to advanced professional degrees in sports nutrition, physical therapy and other related professions.
