Pottery - Concentration
The Pottery concentration is committed to providing a comprehensive curriculum in the range of processes and concepts present in contemporary ceramic art. The philosophy of the area encourages the concurrent development of critical, technical, and manual skills. Issues and debates in contemporary crafts, sculpture, architecture, design, and studio pottery are presented alongside a rigorous exploration of forming and decorating processes and technology. Faculty mentor students in refining their artistic voice through the medium of ceramics. Students' conceptual development and materials-based learning are encouraged through access to a well-equipped studio facility with materials and tools that support experimentation. Students' capstone experience results in a defined body of work that demonstrates conceptual rigor and depth of choices connecting the material and the visual.

The International Studies major is an interdisciplinary program designed to help you explore and understand the nature of diverse cultures and peoples. You’ll learn a broad range of subjects, all of which contribute to a wide range of job prospects from government, academics, law and foreign service to communications, media, journalism, and beyond. Within the major, you’ll have multiple opportunities to travel, learn languages, and explore cultures around the world. This major includes an accelerated option for students to graduate on a faster schedule.

Middle East and North African Studies - Concentration
This concentration emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of Middle East and North Africa cultures and societies. Courses include history, religion/philosophy, literature, art, and three years of Arabic language to give you the tools to understand and interpret this area’s past and present.

It’s no secret that knowing other languages opens doors to a world of opportunities. This major offers undergraduate instruction in 10 languages, concentrations in French, German and Spanish, and opportunities for education abroad. You’ll gain the ability to communicate in another tongue, but also to analyze literary texts and films, to understand the workings of language, to appreciate diversity and to interact successfully across cultures.

Upon completion of the program of study, students will demonstrate:

• Communicative oral skills in the target language, including grammatical accuracy, correct use of tense, fluency, appropriate intonation, suitable vocabulary and discourse devices for expressing opinions or when giving research presentations.
• Communicative writing skills in the target language, including clarity of ideas, grammatical accuracy and appropriate vocabulary, adequate elaboration of ideas through a variety of sentence structures and vocabulary, and logical flow of ideas through the use of discourse organizational devices.
• Analytical skill in literary and cultural texts of the target language, including ability to formulate and present a topic of inquiry, to critically analyze the topic with valid supporting evidence, and to cogently synthesize and summarize the ideas in bibliographical sources and the results of their own analytical inquiry.
• Increased sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural and linguistic differences.

Writing, Rhetoric, and Literacy - Concentration
The Writing, Rhetoric and Literacy concentration builds on departmental strengths in writing theory and design, rhetoric, composition, public writing, and rhetoric and writing instruction. Our M.S. program offers a range of opportunities in health-focused coursework that allows you to experience science-based, rigorous research first hand. Our graduate students are encouraged to seek out a lab that reflects their interests, where they can participate in hands on research in many disciplines of study, including health span, prevention and treatment of metabolic disorders, researching neuromuscular disease and disability, investigating cancer recurrence and engaging with the physical and mental health of active duty military and first responders. Master of Accountancy candidates will learn the skills and gain the confidence to secure competitive management positions and exciting accounting roles in public firms or in industry.  The program offers you an opportunity to study general accountancy or specialize in one of three areas: taxation, data analytics and systems; and financial analysis, auditing and reporting.  These specializations let you focus your learning and prepare you to conduct targeted technical research and data analysis.
