The International Studies major is an interdisciplinary program designed to help you explore and understand the nature of diverse cultures and peoples. You’ll learn a broad range of subjects, all of which contribute to a wide range of job prospects from government, academics, law and foreign service to communications, media, journalism, and beyond. Within the major, you’ll have multiple opportunities to travel, learn languages, and explore cultures around the world. This major includes an accelerated option for students to graduate on a faster schedule.

Middle East and North African Studies - Concentration
This concentration emphasizes the interdisciplinary study of Middle East and North Africa cultures and societies. Courses include history, religion/philosophy, literature, art, and three years of Arabic language to give you the tools to understand and interpret this area’s past and present.

The Business major encourages critical thinking while exploring modern management theories, relevant business practices, and current industry trends. You’ll discover your interests along the way and begin to focus your studies based on your interests and talents. Then you can choose from 10 concentrations to merge your academic focus with your career goals.

Marketing - Concentration
Every business, no matter how small, needs a comprehensive marketing strategy. Getting a message, product or movement in front of an audience takes research, commitment, and creative problem-solving. Marketing assembles all these assets and presents them in an engaging narrative that connects with people, attracts an engaged audience, and creates growth.

At the College of Business, you’ll be challenged to create lasting solutions to complex problems using the latest marketing methods. Our program connects you with faculty, industry leaders, and forward-thinking coursework, all designed to help you confidently enter the marketing field.

Philosophy is the oldest form of systematic, scholarly inquiry. It is the study of the most basic moral, legal, aesthetic, religious, and metaphysical ideas by which we pursue understanding and develop principles of conduct. Philosophers seek to establish standards of evidence, provide rational methods of conflict resolution, establish criteria for just social orders, and create techniques for evaluating ideas and arguments.

The study of philosophy broadens and intensifies liberal education while enhancing interpretive abilities in many fields. The curriculum encourages a broad liberal arts background, including courses in foreign languages, and a plan for graduate school and teaching careers in philosophy. The broad relevance of philosophy to other fields permits most students to work toward goals such as professional training in law, medicine, business, or theology. There are three concentrations available to Philosophy majors: General Philosophy; Global Philosophies and Religions; and Philosophy, Science and Technology. It is not unusual for Philosophy majors to second-major in other disciplines, and these concentrations combine easily with other majors at CSU.

The Professional Masters Program in Toxicology transitions graduates into MD, DVM, PharmD and other professional programs, as well as prepares students for research careers in industry and academia. Toxicology integrates closely with other medical and applied disciplines including Pharmacology, Forensic Science, Environmental Health, Ecological Toxicology, Infectious Disease, Nutrition and Food Safety, and Veterinary Science.

The toxicology program ranges from 1-2 years, depending on student interests and career goals. Many students enhance their skill set and improve their competitiveness for professional programs by taking advantage of internships, group study & laboratory courses and research opportunities in additional semesters.

Our department offers a practical orientation to computer science; cutting-edge research; a congenial, award-winning faculty; and an active student population. Teaching and research areas in artificial intelligence, software engineering, networks and security, high performance computing, distributed systems, bioinformatics, computer vision, big data, and human-computer interaction.

The Major in Interior Architecture and Design exemplifies the definition of the professional designer as qualified by education, experience, and examination to design interior environments that enhance the function and quality of life, increase productivity, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Academic preparation is grounded in research-based problem solving and experiential education through studio instruction, service learning, and internships that encompass a variety of cultural, environmental, and historical perspectives. The program has a longstanding accreditation by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), recognizing the highest academic standards established by the profession.

Students seeking to apply to the Interior Architecture and Design major at CSU first are admitted to CSU as Pre-Interior Architecture and Design. All students who wish to be considered for admission to Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) major will be required to complete the Interior Architecture and Design Scenario practicum. Selective advancement into the major is based on the review received at the IAD Scenario, where external reviewers will assess student competencies in writing for design, sketching, problem-solving, and conceptual frameworks. A cohort of approximately 50-60 students advances based on performance on the IAD Design Scenario. The IAD Design Scenario occurs annually in the spring semester. Throughout your studies in apparel and merchandising, you’ll gain a broad historical and cultural foundation in the fashion industry, along with opportunities to design and create, analyze consumer behavior, and discover how everything from textile design to product development to brand marketing can help shape cultural understanding and awareness. You’ll begin with hands-on learning, internships, and a student-run shows; you’ll end with a degree that can take you almost anywhere.

The B.F.A. in Art is considered the professional degree for studio art and art education majors, allowing you to explore various mediums and gain a foundational knowledge base in art history. You’ll get opportunities to learn from masters of their crafts as well as look back upon art throughout the ages, different forms of expression, and their impact on society.

Pottery - Concentration
The Pottery concentration is committed to providing a comprehensive curriculum in the range of processes and concepts present in contemporary ceramic art. The philosophy of the area encourages the concurrent development of critical, technical, and manual skills. Issues and debates in contemporary crafts, sculpture, architecture, design, and studio pottery are presented alongside a rigorous exploration of forming and decorating processes and technology. Faculty mentor students in refining their artistic voice through the medium of ceramics. Students' conceptual development and materials-based learning are encouraged through access to a well-equipped studio facility with materials and tools that support experimentation. Students' capstone experience results in a defined body of work that demonstrates conceptual rigor and depth of choices connecting the material and the visual.
