Marketing - Concentration
Every business, no matter how small, needs a comprehensive marketing strategy. Getting a message, product or movement in front of an audience takes research, commitment, and creative problem-solving. Marketing assembles all these assets and presents them in an engaging narrative that connects with people, attracts an engaged audience, and creates growth.

The Department of Ecosystem Science and Sustainability investigates the intricate physical, chemical, human, and biological interactions driving ecosystems.  We help develop leaders in ecosystem, watershed, and sustainability sciences: a new generation of practitioners able to address complex, integrated social-ecological problems, in collaborative partnerships with researchers, resource users and decision-makers.

The Major in Interior Architecture and Design exemplifies the definition of the professional designer as qualified by education, experience, and examination to design interior environments that enhance the function and quality of life, increase productivity, and protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public. Academic preparation is grounded in research-based problem solving and experiential education through studio instruction, service learning, and internships that encompass a variety of cultural, environmental, and historical perspectives. The program has a longstanding accreditation by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), recognizing the highest academic standards established by the profession.

Students seeking to apply to the Interior Architecture and Design major at CSU first are admitted to CSU as Pre-Interior Architecture and Design. All students who wish to be considered for admission to Interior Architecture and Design (IAD) major will be required to complete the Interior Architecture and Design Scenario practicum. Selective advancement into the major is based on the review received at the IAD Scenario, where external reviewers will assess student competencies in writing for design, sketching, problem-solving, and conceptual frameworks. A cohort of approximately 50-60 students advances based on performance on the IAD Design Scenario. The IAD Design Scenario occurs annually in the spring semester. Family and Consumer Sciences (FCS) is an exciting field with many career opportunities. The mission of this interdepartmental major is to prepare professionals dedicated to enhancing the well-being of individuals, families, and the communities and environments in which they live and/or work.

Students graduate with an interdisciplinary perspective about the challenges encountered by families and consumers. Through coursework, students gain skills to assist families and consumers with quality of life decisions and challenges related to interpersonal/human relationships, consumer and financial resource management, personal development, nutrition and wellness, and balancing family and work.

This program emphasizes the management and problem-solving skills needed to be a responsible and productive individual, family member, and worker. Students take coursework in a variety of departments including, but not limited to:

Students have the option of the FCS concentration or the FCS Education concentration. Upon graduating, students will be eligible to take the exam to be certified in FCS with the American Association of Family and Consumer Sciences.

The B.F.A. in Art is considered the professional degree for studio art and art education majors, allowing you to explore various mediums and gain a foundational knowledge base in art history. You’ll get opportunities to learn from masters of their crafts as well as look back upon art throughout the ages, different forms of expression, and their impact on society.

Pottery - Concentration
The Pottery concentration is committed to providing a comprehensive curriculum in the range of processes and concepts present in contemporary ceramic art. The philosophy of the area encourages the concurrent development of critical, technical, and manual skills. Issues and debates in contemporary crafts, sculpture, architecture, design, and studio pottery are presented alongside a rigorous exploration of forming and decorating processes and technology. Faculty mentor students in refining their artistic voice through the medium of ceramics. Students' conceptual development and materials-based learning are encouraged through access to a well-equipped studio facility with materials and tools that support experimentation. Students' capstone experience results in a defined body of work that demonstrates conceptual rigor and depth of choices connecting the material and the visual.

Human Resource Management - Concentration
It’s often said, but it bears repeating — the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Faculty members in the Department of Biology study everything from molecules to ecosystems. We offer degrees rooted in both basic and applied research. Data science is the discovery of knowledge and insight through the analysis of data. As such, it draws on the study of algorithms and their implementation from computer science, the power of abstraction and of geometric and topological formalism from mathematics, and the modeling and analysis of data from statistics. It has emerged as a separate field in response to the avalanche of data from web enabled sensors and instrumentation, mobile devices, web logs and transactions, and the availability of computing power for data storage and analysis. Modern data is challenging not only due to its large scale, but also because it is increasingly heterogeneous and unstructured. Information gleaned from this data none-the-less is revolutionizing diverse areas of human endeavor from health policy to high energy physics.

It’s no secret that knowing other languages opens doors to a world of opportunities. This major offers undergraduate instruction in 10 languages, concentrations in French, German and Spanish, and opportunities for education abroad. You’ll gain the ability to communicate in another tongue, but also to analyze literary texts and films, to understand the workings of language, to appreciate diversity and to interact successfully across cultures.

Concentration in German
Students take courses in language, literature, linguistics, culture, and practical applications such as Business German or translation and host cultural events through the German Club.

The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.
