The Department of Construction Management maintains close ties to the construction/engineering/architecture industry and offers applied research opportunities. The program focuses on research and theory with a strong emphasis on project management. The curriculum design allows students to tailor a portion of the specialization requirements to meet individual interests and goals.

The organization and innovation management concentration in the CSU College of Business refines your natural leadership skills. The Department of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences offers a wide variety of graduate opportunities in cancer biology and oncology; occupational and environmental health (i.e., industrial hygiene, ergonomics); health physics, radiation sciences (i.e., radiobiology, radioecology, radiochemistry) epidemiology and toxicology.

The B.F.A. in Art is considered the professional degree for studio art and art education majors, allowing you to explore various mediums and gain a foundational knowledge base in art history. You’ll get opportunities to learn from masters of their crafts as well as look back upon art throughout the ages, different forms of expression, and their impact on society.

Fibers - Concentration
The Fibers concentration fosters creativity and artistic expression in a wide variety of textile media. Students develop skills in visual communication as they investigate the language of textiles and the role of fibers in contemporary art and design. Undergraduate courses provide foundations in weaving and surface-design methods—including fabric printing, painting, dyeing, and embellishment. Classes also promote creative investigation of off-loom constructions, feltmaking, mixed media, and installation.

Studio work is enriched with research in the collections of the Gregory Allicar Museum of Art and the Avenir Museum of Design and Merchandising. Students receive guidance in professional practices as they direct their talents toward careers in art, design, and education. CSU alumni exhibit their work regionally, nationally, and internationally; teach at public and private schools, colleges, and universities; and lead workshop programs throughout the U.S. Our alumni also jury and curate exhibitions, work as designers, and write for national publications.

The Department of Forest and Rangeland Stewardship consists of foresters, range scientists, hydrologists, and social scientists that study natural environmental processes and how they interact with human systems.

The Biochemistry major provides a student with a strong, well-balanced background in the biological, physical, and mathematical sciences. As a Biochemistry major, studies include macromolecular structure and function; cellular biochemistry; metabolism; gene expression, DNA and protein structure, DNA replication and repair; cell organization, communication, growth, aging, and death. Students are also required to take courses in physics, organic chemistry, and statistical measurements and methods used in research. Independent study and internships (typically during the junior and senior years, but could start in the freshman year) provide opportunities for experiential learning and working closely with the faculty, sometimes leading to authorship of original publications.

The Department of Philosophy has established scholars specializing in many areas of philosophy, including  applied ethics, particularly animal ethics, environmental ethics, and bioethics; comparative and non-Western philosophy; ethical theory; history of philosophy; metaphysics; aesthetics; and epistemology.

Water impacts every aspect of life from environmental stability to global political issues. The Watershed Science major is designed to give you a broad, scientific foundation in the study of water, how it moves across the land, and how different human activities affect water. You’ll come out with an array of job possibilities in the public and private sector, as well as skills to help preserve and protect earth’s most-important resource. The program capitalizes on its proximity to the Rocky Mountains, High Plains, and basins of Colorado to give students unique educational opportunities in outdoor laboratories.

Sustainable management of freshwater resources is an increasingly important and complex challenge in Colorado and worldwide, and we need scientists who can address complex water issues. The Watershed Science program focuses on how water moves through the landscape, what factors affect its quality, and how to manage water resources. Students begin their program by building a strong foundation in the physical and natural sciences in preparation for upper-division coursework in land-use hydrology, snow hydrology, water quality, and watershed problem analysis. Students gain hands-on experience with water measurements outside and in the lab, and build technical and writing skills to prepare them for careers in hydrology and water resources.

Printmaking - Concentration
Printmaking courses at the undergraduate level are structured to develop a strong personal artistic vision and instill the self-confidence necessary to allow ongoing creative growth through a variety of media. A sound technical background in Lithography, Screen-Printing, Intaglio, Relief Woodcut, Post-Digital methods and encouragement of experimental hybrid techniques will provide students with the professional skills needed to cultivate a robust studio practice and explore new innovative research based on that foundation. The community workshop atmosphere of the printmaking area immerses students in group collaboration as well as personal exploration, thus preparing each student for real-world occupational applications of their research. Through sharing visual concepts and technical investigations on a regular basis, students learn how to apply newly acquired knowledge productively and intuitively, while simultaneously developing skill sets desired by prospective employers. Interactive artistic dialog between highly motivated printmakers is a cornerstone to the printmaking curriculum, leading to a wide array of unique and diverse avenues for creative inquiry.
