Take your place as an innovative leader in sports and recreation through the Master of Science in Sports Science at Hofstra University. Develop a design and implementation skill set for creating training programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce injuries.

The Strength and Conditioning concentration is designed to prepare students to work with athletes as strength and conditioning coaches in college, professional, private, and secondary school settings. Students will develop the skills necessary to design and implement population-specific training programs that enhance athletic performance and reduce injury risk. The foundation of course work is in areas of bio-mechanics, exercise physiology, performance testing, periodization, program design, and sport nutrition. In addition, all students will have opportunities to complete various fieldwork experiences.

This degree is for students who may be interested in a double major in areas such as education, marketing, computer science, or film. Students have the option of a general fine arts degree, or a specialization in design, painting, or sculpture-industrial design.

Video, Television, and Film

The BS in Video, Television, and Film adds a film component to the video/television degree program, with courses such as advanced theatrical production, screenwriting, and cinematography; this degree also requires a media production practicum and coursework in science and computer science.

The BS in Video/Television gives you a more technical, specialized approach to television and video production. Courses include advanced television technologies, multi-camera production, a media production practicum, as well as a science and computer science requirement.

Philosophy
The BA in Philosophy is a broad-based liberal arts degree that is good preparation for a wide range of careers including law, journalism, business, medicine, cognitive science, neuroscience, medicine, and computer science. Students pursuing this degree can pick up a minor or concentration that focuses on law, applied ethics, cognitive science or business.

The BS in Applied Physics allows students to combine the BS in Physics with a concentration in biochemistry, computer science, or engineering. The curriculum includes electives in humanities and social science to give the student a general background to supplement training as a specialist.

The BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN COMPUTER SCIENCE is the largest program in the Department of Computer Science and offers a deep foundation in the main areas of computing. There are a wide range of available concentrations to pursue in fields such as cybersecurity, gaming and animation, web and mobile applications, plus flexible choices of technical electives.

Web and Mobile Engineering

The concentration in Web and Mobile Engineering is aimed at educating students in the field of Web and mobile computer applications. This is a continually growing and changing field. Almost all computer applications must provide access on the Web and/or mobile devices. Courses in this concentration offer a hands-on approach to learning Web and mobile programming.

Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering students concentrate in one of three areas: Biomechanics, Bioelectricity, or Pre-Med. You'll first build a foundation in universal engineering theories, mathematics, and the physical and life sciences, before moving on to courses in your area of interest:

Asian Studies
Students in the Asian Studies program learn about the traditional and modern societies of Asia through teaching, research, and service. They graduate equipped to enter a variety of career paths.

The program fosters understanding of the cultural, social, and political relationships amongst the various countries in Asia, North America, and Europe. Through additional outreach activities, students also learn about the connections between Asia, the growing Asian American communities in the New York metropolitan area, and the University.
