Legal Studies
Students in Legal Studies, a major offered by the Department of Politics and Government, have great opportunities for learning and growth, both as individuals and within  the paralegal field as a whole. The Department of Politics and Government provides a variety of resources for Legal Studies majors including internship opportunities, small class sizes, as well as full-time faculty or experienced practitioners teaching all levels of coursework.

The Legal Studies curriculum is designed to provide specialized knowledge and skills to prepare students for employment as a paralegal. Paralegals may not provide legal services directly to the public, except as permitted by law. Students preparing for law school should consult with the pre-law advisor to determine which courses are appropriate for them.

Overall, you'll gain a better understanding of policing, courts, and corrections. We study how each entity functions and operates. We also examine how they relate to each other, society, and the world.

Classes in our graduate program are small. This lets you work closely with other professionals and students. You'll engage in meaningful discussions on all the challenges and interesting topics in the criminal justice arena. This gives you a unique academic experience and introduces you to different perspectives.

The basic curriculum is designed to thoroughly acquaint Marketing majors with the broad field of marketing and to allow focused study in narrower subfields, depending upon the students' interests and aptitudes. Students may choose Marketing electives from one or more of the following six career-track concentrations: Advertising/Promotion, Business/Industrial Marketing, Marketing Research, Retailing/Distribution, Selling/Sales Management, and Services Marketing.

Studio Arts Ceramics
The Wonsook Kim School of Art offers a comprehensive list of sequence options for a student interested in Studio Arts. The following are offered as areas of specialization: Ceramics, Drawing, Expanded Media, Glass, Printmaking, Painting, Photography, Sculpture, Video, and Wood / Metal Design.

Following a first year foundations curriculum, students can choose a sequence within an individual studio. Within each sequence, faculty are actively engaged in introducing students to various technical skills and ideas specific to that discipline. The cohesive sequencing of courses within each studio area allows the student to build skills and knowledge towards a highly sophisticated level of work in that field of exploration.

Biology - Physiology, Neuroscience, and Behavior
Majors selecting this sequence will receive broad training in Physiology, Neuroscience and Behavior. This sequence is designed for students seeking careers that involve basic scientific and applied aspects of behavior, physiology and neuroscience.

This sequence will also prepare students for graduate studies in neuroscience, physiology and animal behavior and related fields, and with additional coursework, students can meet the requirements to apply to veterinary and health professional schools.

Elementary Education
The Elementary Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license to teach grades 1-6. The program is recognized as a model of standards-based and performance-based teacher education.

Throughout your coursework, you will gain the professional knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become a highly effective elementary classroom teacher and informed decision-maker about elementary curriculum and instruction.

Students pursuing the Master of Music in Conducting are given extensive podium time and are mentored by dedicated and active conducting faculty. Upon graduation students are prepared to:

• Seek their doctoral degree
• Conduct school, church or community ensembles
• Conduct at a community college or university

The curriculum includes:

• Applied conducting
• Analysis for conductors
• Research
• Practicum in conducting
• Electives chosen from courses like non-degree recitals, music technology, music history, music theory, music education, music therapy, music business, jazz studies, ensembles, and non-music courses

Kinesiology and Recreation - Biomechanics
Biomechanics is the study of forces and their effects on living systems.

The graduate program studies how biomechanics relate to performance enhancement and injury prevention. Students apply what they learn and serve as movement analysts in sports and workplaces. At the end of the program, they complete a thesis, independent study, or professional practice.

Depending on individual career aspirations, completion of the Biomechanics sequence prepares a student for future study at the doctoral level, for employment as a research assistant with a corporate entity, or to serve as a member of a workplace safety team.

Economics - Financial Economic
The Financial Economics sequence provides students training in the financial theory of the firm, financial markets and institutions to complement their training in applied economics analysis. It is designed for students who have an interest in employment opportunities in the financial sector such as investment and commercial banks, economic and financial asset management companies, and consulting firms, or who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree.

Before enrolling in the sequence, students must consult the Graduate Program Director of the Department of Economics and the MBA Program Office to obtain approval for registering for Finance, Insurance, and Law (FIL) courses. In order to enroll in FIL courses, students must have satisfied the following requirements: (1) complete ECO 437 with a grade of B or better; and (2) have a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

This is a STEM designated degree, which focuses on the systematic study of mathematical and statistical analysis of economic phenomena and problems. STEM designated degree programs offer additional benefits for students, including potential grant funded opportunities and, for international students, extended OPT study options.
