The Financial Economics sequence provides students training in the financial theory of the firm, financial markets and institutions to complement their training in applied economics analysis. It is designed for students who have an interest in employment opportunities in the financial sector such as investment and commercial banks, economic and financial asset management companies, and consulting firms, or who are interested in pursuing a Ph.D. degree. This is a STEM designated degree, which focuses on the systematic study of mathematical and statistical analysis of economic phenomena and problems. The Multidisciplinary Studies sequence of the Interdisciplinary Studies major is built around the offerings of two or more departments or schools. It is intended for the student who is seeking a baccalaureate degree without the specialization of a traditional major. The student, with the help of a faculty advisor, chooses the focus of the program by determining the departments or schools in which he or she wishes to pursue advanced work.

Students who complete the Multidisciplinary Studies sequence will earn a Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree and have their transcripts noted: "Major in Interdisciplinary Studies: Multidisciplinary Studies Sequence."

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license for teaching programs serving children birth to age 7 (grade 2). The program is recognized by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a nationally recognized model of standards-based and performance-based teacher education.

Throughout the coursework, teacher candidates will gain the professional knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become a highly effective parent-infant educator, special education preschool educator, public school pre-kindergarten, child care, or kindergarten through second grade teacher.

The Accounting - Career Specialty sequence allows accounting majors to design an individualized plan of study that meets their career goals. In addition to the required accounting courses, students complete 12 hours in a specialized area with advice and approval of the accounting academic advisor and the department chair.

The Communication Studies - Organizational and Leadership Communication sequence enhances communication knowledge, understanding, and skills for enhancing organizational relationships. The goal of this sequence is to equip the student to successfully use communication as a tool to enhance organizational outcomes. Students will gain an understanding of how communication processes can be used to manage behaviors in an organizational context while becoming a competent communicator.

Typical careers include community relations, convention planning, training specialist, entry-level and executive management, corporate communication.
