The Mathematics sequence in the Mathematics major first provides students with a strong foundation in Mathematics and then gives students the flexibility to explore various aspects of the discipline.

There is also the flexibility within the Mathematics major for a student to pursue a minor in a related field of study. Such a program can prepare students for jobs in industry and government as well as prepare students for graduate study in Mathematics.

An INTO Illinois State University Graduate Pathway program in Accountancy will prepare the student to enter their next semester of a master's degree program at Illinois State University.Upon successful completion of the Pathway program and meeting university requirements for graduate admission, you may enter your next semester of study at Illinois State University. This transition from an INTO program to a university degree program is called progression.

Accountancy
The primary objective of the Master of Science in Accountancy program is to provide candidates preparing for professional careers in accounting a greater breadth and depth in accounting education than is possible in a baccalaureate or Master of Business Administration program.

The degree builds upon the broad framework of the undergraduate degree in accounting. Graduate accounting courses emphasize study of current accounting literature, critical thinking, case studies, accounting theory, and written and oral communication. Class sizes are designed to be small to encourage interaction between the professor and each student.

The Business Education major at Illinois State University combines the solid foundation of a business degree with preparation needed to become a business and compter education teacher.  The program is the only K-12 Business Education program in the state, and the only dedicated business education program at a public institution.  There is a shortage of business teachers in the state.

The Business Education graduate is prepared to teach all business and information technology courses, including business, accounting, business law, information processing/keyboarding, computer applications, consumer economics, marketing, entrepreneurship, business communications, web design, digital media, and many more.

Construction Management
Accredited by the American Council For Construction Education (ACCE), the Construction Management major develops leaders for the building construction industry.

Through an interdisciplinary curriculum, students receive a background in:

The program focuses on production, technical, and management capabilities rather than design and craft skills.

The Computer Systems Technology program prepares technology professionals to manage computer systems and develop applications in a variety of settings. Students develop knowledge and communication skills to successfully collaborate on projects.

The criminal justice graduate program at Illinois State can help you take your career to the next level.  

As a student in our program, you'll sharpen and further develop your skills. You'll also get a deeper perspective of the criminal justice field.

Our program is designed to give you the tools you need to advance in the field and be a stand out for competitive positions. The theories and principles we cover in the classroom can be applied to your current or future role in the field.

Overall, you'll gain a better understanding of policing, courts, and corrections. We study how each entity functions and operates. We also examine how they relate to each other, society, and the world.

Classes in our graduate program are small. This lets you work closely with other professionals and students. You'll engage in meaningful discussions on all the challenges and interesting topics in the criminal justice arena. This gives you a unique academic experience and introduces you to different perspectives.

Communication Studies - Political Communication
Political Communication is concerned with being actively engaged with local, regional, state, national, and international issues and how the power of information, persuasion, and strategic message design can be used to understand and affect outcomes at those levels, particularly in the area of governance and governmental and societal behavior. Students become knowledgeable and skilled in the use of political messages to promote causes, candidates, campaigns, etc.

Early Childhood Education
The Early Childhood Teacher Education program at Illinois State will prepare you for a professional educator's license for teaching programs serving children birth to age 7 (grade 2). The program is recognized by the National Association of the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and is a nationally recognized model of standards-based and performance-based teacher education.

Throughout the coursework, teacher candidates will gain the professional knowledge, skills, and experiences needed to become a highly effective parent-infant educator, special education preschool educator, public school pre-kindergarten, child care, or kindergarten through second grade teacher.

Illinois State University is one of only a handful of institutions that offer a terminal M.S. degree in Chemistry. Our graduate program is aimed exclusively at the master's level, and so all of the students in the graduate program enter seeking the master's degree.

The Interior Design major prepares students to design innovative, functional, supportive and responsible interior environments that positively impact the quality of life. The curriculum develops students' skills and knowledge in color and design, drafting, space planning, building and interior systems, materials and finishes, historical interiors, building and barrier-free codes, and Auto-CAD. The needs of special populations and the mandates that regulate the field of interior design are emphasized.

Illinois State's Interior Design program is accredited by the Council of Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA). This prepares students for entry-level Interior Design practice, for advanced study, and to apply for membership in professional Interior Design organizations. The BS or BA in Interior Design granted by Illinois State University meets the educational requirement for eligibility to sit for the National Council for Interior Design Qualification Examination (NCIDQ Exam).
