As a digital forensics professional, you'll examine digital evidence and protect computer systems from hackers and malware. But catching cyber criminals means you have to think like them—and then outsmart them. So we're going to teach you the programming knowledge and tools you need to do just that. We're also going to teach you about legal evidence-gathering, investigation processes, and more. Best of all, because our criminal justice program is the only one in Alabama that requires an internship, you'll have real-world experience on your resume when it's time to find a job.

High School Education
As a high-school teacher, you can have a tremendous influence over a person during some of their most formative years. In fact, what you teach someone can last a lifetime. At UAB, we can teach you the skills needed to become a high school educator.

To get started, you must first decide what subject you want to teach: science, social studies, math, or English language arts. Then, you'll learn critical skills, competencies, and instructional strategies from our nationally-renowned faculty. We'll also give you hands-on experience through internships and practicums. Finally, if you're a future math or science teacher, you may want to enroll in UABTeach, our four-year program that lets you earn a STEM degree while also qualifying for certification as a classroom teacher.

The MS in Biostatistics provides a balance between theory and application, the perspective being the role of statistics and modeling in scientific research. The objective is to produce research-oriented scientists who anticipate a career performing data management and statistical analysis. The MS program is also an appropriate program to prepare students to enter the Biostatistics PhD program.

In order to succeed, every business has to have an accountant like you keeping track of its resources. Our faculty can give you the financial training you need for a career at a public accounting firm, company, governmental agency, not-for-profit organization, or elsewhere.

In fact, we're among an elite group of universities worldwide to achieve the seal of excellence in both business and accounting from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. In addition to your core classes, you can choose concentration classes in forensic accounting or information technology. We also offer an accelerated master’s program, where you can complete graduate level courses while you’re still an undergrad and put yourself on track to earn your CPA. Finally, with our internship opportunities, you'll have the chance to get real-world experience before you graduate.

In fact, there are very high standards for this field set by the Society for Human Resource Management, and we've designed our curriculum specifically to meet those standards. That's why, in addition to your core and elective coursework, we're going to provide you with the opportunity to participate in an internship, research project, or study-abroad trip. As a foreign languages student, not only will you learn another language, you'll also gain a deeper understanding of culture, art, history, and philosophy. These will be critically important skills for you in fields like journalism, medicine, tourism, government, social work, and more.

To succeed in these careers, you absolutely must know how to communicate effectively in local, national, and global communities alike. That's why we offer you traditional language, culture, civilization, linguistics, and literature classes. But that's just the beginning. You can also take courses such as Literature in Translation, Film and Cultural Studies, Foreign Media and Society, U.S. Latino Topics, Applied Linguistics, and Languages for the Professions. With internships and opportunities to study abroad, you can expand your worldview even further.

Immunology
Immunology is the study of the immune system, including the cells, organs, tissues, and the function the system plays in protecting humans against infectious diseases. It's the perfect foundation for a career in health care, biomedical research, or nearly anything that requires a white coat.

In fact, immunology is a collaborative field, and that's why your training will come from a broad spectrum of the scientific community. You'll take classes in biology, microbiology, chemistry, physics, and mathematics, taught through both our medical school and biology department. And, we’ll help you prepare for a continued education or career in fields such as biochemistry, cell biology, cancer biology, infectious diseases, neurobiology, endocrinology, and cardiology.

Health Care Management
The Bachelor of Science in Health Care Management (HCM) was established at UAB in 1982. The degree offers a pathway into entry and mid?level management careers for some and serves as a foundation for success in graduate?level academic or professional degree programs for others.
A successful healthcare practice not only has great providers—doctors, nurses, optometrists, dentists, and the like—it has high quality management. Our Health Care Management degree helps provide a pathway for students who want to go into mid-level management careers or continue onto a graduate program.

We designed this program for aspiring leaders, like you, who want to improve healthcare systems, including in hospitals, managed care organizations, medical group practices, consulting firms, government agencies, non-profits, and other companies in ambulatory, long-term care, insurance, and pharmaceutical. We have several concentrations to choose from depending on your academic work, current professional status, personal interests, and future goals. You'll also have the opportunity to earn your master's in occupational therapy, health informatics, or health-care quality and safety through our fast-track program.
