The Bachelor of Arts in German Studies is designed to familiarize students with the German language and the cultures and histories of German-speaking communities. Designated a German Center of Excellence by the American Association of Teachers of German, the German Studies department provides students with a diverse education. Students acquire language proficiency in German and a broad background in German culture, history and literary studies. Students can tailor their coursework to focus on different subject areas, including German for professional purposes, German contemporary culture, current events, cultural history from the Middle Ages to the present, fairy tales, music, applied linguistics and language teaching.

The Illustration and Design emphasis of the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art encompasses a diverse faculty with expertise in graphic design, illustration, letterpress, book arts, visual narratives, animation, motion graphics, information design, and interdisciplinary collaborations with the environmental sciences. These specializations are reflected in a broad array of curricular offerings, including field trips, team projects with community clients, internships and study abroad. Through an exploration of the relationship between authorship, personal expression, visual problem-solving and communication, students develop a body of self-authored work consistent with the breadth of the expanding profession.

As a journalist, you'll be at the forefront of a rapidly changing world that relies on a news cycle that runs 24/7. Journalism teaches the ins and outs of researching and reporting the news. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism focuses on reporting the news for radio, television and multimedia outlets. The program of study touches on important aspects of journalism such as law and ethics before diving into hands-on learning. Broadcast majors write, report, fact-check, shoot, produce and edit hard-news features and in-depth stories for broadcast and the web, culminating in quality news reports that can be included on reels to share with prospective employers. Electives in digital media, such as drone videography or mobile app development, can further prepare students for this ever-evolving field. A second major or a minor in a specialized field, such as political science, religion or Middle Eastern studies, is required.

The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Fresh Produce Safety track advance the latest methods for maintaining the safety of food one of the most important resources on Earth. In this Yuma-based program, students discover how production chains become contaminated with diseases, and learn Good Agricultural Practices for the harvest of leafy greens and fresh-vegetable food safety. Coursework provides insight into food safety issues, field risk assessments, facility sanitation and inspection processes. Students gain real-life experience in the applications of soil, water and plant sciences, including soil chemistry, plant nutrition and hydroponics.

The Bachelor of Arts in English trains students to communicate clearly and effectively while honing essential critical thinking skills. Workshops led by an internationally renowned faculty aim to help students write well-crafted and compelling works of prose and poetry. Additionally, coursework in literature and literary analysis teaches critical thinking and research efficiencies, while classes in publishing share real-world insights into the writing profession. This Bachelor of Arts program of study not only gives students widely applicable tools that can be used across myriad industries, but it also offers a Professional and Technical Writing certificate and grants access to some of today's most important and influential writers.

The Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a Comprehensive emphasis serves as a launching pad for students wishing to attain a graduate degree in mathematics, mathematics education or applied math. Undergraduates immerse themselves in the study of abstract algebra, mathematical analysis and more. They learn to apply rigorous logic and creativity to mathematical problems.
