Pursue your dreams of being a world-class cellist with a nationally recognized program that develops technique, helps you network with other artists and introduces you to professional opportunities. Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Cello emphasis take courses at the Fred Fox School of Music, which ranks among the country's foremost institutions of higher education in music. Classes include both one-on-one instruction and collaboration in groups. The University of Arizona has offered instruction in music since the late 1800s. Today, its faculty comprises some of the leading artists and performers in the music world. The school presents more than 300 recitals every year, and performing ensembles tour throughout the country. Artists, scholars and clinicians are invited to campus for workshops, lectures and master classes.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

Bachelor of Arts in Gender and Womens Studies with Emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies
Forge a deeper understanding of how aspects of race and gender discrimination overlap, and then learn ways to dismantle the systems that keep those factors in place. Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Students can opt for an emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies, a course of study that works with the Gender and Women's Studies department's prestigious Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Established in 1979, SIROW develops research-action projects of importance to women in the Southwestern U.S. and the Mexico-U.S. border regions. The Gender and Women's Studies department, founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum.

Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Statistics and Data Science will have a solid foundation in mathematics. Yet they focus on the capture, maintenance, processing, analysis and communication of data through immersion in courses in probability, statistics, data science and computer programming. Undergraduates also must complete a minor outside the Department of Mathematics. Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.

Biomedical engineers develop medical technologies in areas such as biomaterials, biosensors, wearable devices and imaging systems to improve people's lives. The Biomedical Engineering Bachelor of Science is geared to students looking to combine strong engineering skills and knowledge of biological sciences. Individualized degree plans are organized around three main areas of study: biomaterials to support or replace damaged tissue, biomechanics for supporting anatomical movement, and biosensors and microtechnologies to improve disease detection and management. Most Biomedical Engineering majors do high-profile research with faculty and complete sponsored senior design projects, which help launch their careers or entry into medical or graduate school. The B.S. in Biomedical Engineering is an approved pre-med program.

Deepen your understanding of native communities in North America. In addition to studying languages, traditions and cultures, you'll learn about current issues facing these communities today. The study of American Indians and Alaska Natives establishes an understanding of the relationship between these communities and the U.S., and it sets the groundwork for a career in public policy, government and private business. Students in the Bachelor of Arts in American Indian Studies program explore history, cultural traditions (oral histories, literature, arts) and tribal governments. Students also learn the languages and examine the critical social and political issues in these communities. This holistic approach to studying the diverse native cultures in North America helps students develop a broad-reaching perspective of these important groups. Community service-oriented internships enhance coursework.

Identify important strategies, such as green infrastructure and water harvesting, that we can employ to design innovative and sustainable landscapes. The importance of the role that landscapes play in the built environment is at the center of the Sustainable Landscapes Emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program. Students learn about environmental design, planning and management challenges and how to overcome them. Students study subjects such as water harvesting, passive cooling, urban heat island mitigation, climate adaptability, and how landscapes can improve human health. They also explore urban ecology, natural resource management and environmental policy. Upon graduation, students have a deeper understanding of how landscapes play a pivotal role in a community and the ways to make them more sustainable.
