The pursuit of a Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in the Harpsichord provides students with a rigorous course of study. Classwork includes topics that range from the technical (piano, methodology, aural skills) to the cultural (history of music in the 20th century), all of which deepen students' understanding of music as a whole. The internationally recognized faculty at the Fred Fox School of Music offers highly individualized instruction as well as master classes where students are encouraged to collaborate. Develop a comprehensive education in Arabic, from language proficiency to cultural knowledge of Arabic society, at one of the top programs in the U.S. Arabic studies introduce students to the richness and importance of Arabic culture. Offered by the School of Middle Eastern & North African Studies, this Bachelor of Arts program makes an excellent double major, preparing students for successful international careers. As students become proficient in Arabic - widely considered a critical language for the U.S. - they also learn dialects such as Moroccan and Egyptian. Additionally, students gain knowledge of Arabic society, arts and literature, with opportunities to study abroad in Arab-speaking countries. The University of Arizona is one of only five universities in the country selected to participate in the federally funded Arabic Flagship Program.

Business and economics have always gone hand in hand, and that's why the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management offers a Business Economics major. Students who pursue the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Business Economics graduate with an economist perspective and a solid foundation in business. This framework prepares students for careers solving problems that arise from scarcity and tackling complex public issues such as inflation and unemployment. Students wishing to earn their B.S.B.A. in Business Economics must first complete the Pre-Business courses. Students can then apply to the highly competitive professional admissions process to gain access to upper-division economics and business courses. Graduates enter the workforce primed for leadership economist and business roles in a variety of industries.

Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

Learning Outcomes

• Students will demonstrate the ability to conduct a research project using appropriate and ethical methods, including proper citation of sources.
• Students will establish the ability to exercise the four key techniques of computational thinking (decomposition, pattern recognition, abstraction, and algorithms) in solving information and data challenges.
• Students will acquire the skills of collecting, manipulating, and analyzing different types of data at different scales, and interpreting the results properly.
• Students will be able to recognize and analyze ethical and policy concerns raised by new technologies and will be able to apply ethical thinking to real world cases and craft effective solutions.

Immerse yourself in the Spanish language while learning various cultures through the ages via Hispanic the Literature emphasis. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Hispanic Literature emphasis will take language courses in both Spanish and Portuguese while studying Hispanic literature. Outside of the classroom, students hone their Spanish language conversation skills in Spanish Club or their Portuguese-speaking skills in Bate Papo. Various study abroad programs through the University of Arizona provide Spanish majors the opportunity for additional language and cultural immersion, adding to their undergraduate experience.

Students seeking a Bachelor of Science in Molecular and Cellular Biology with a subplan in Molecular and Cellular Biology take courses in genetics, physics, chemistry and more. They gain hands-on experience in laboratory research through independent study, honors thesis work and capstone experiences. Full-time, paid summer research opportunities with renowned faculty are also available. Plus, the Molecular and Cellular Biology Club provides camaraderie with fellow students. Students can streamline their course planning to achieve both an undergraduate and graduate degree with just five years of study through the Accelerated Master's Program.

The Bachelor of Science in Personal & Family Financial Planning introduces students to the core elements of financial planning and wealth management. Students enhance their studies with courses in law and ethics, personal and family dynamics, retirement strategies, risk management, federal income taxation and tax codes, professional conduct, fiduciary responsibility, investments and more. The capstone project challenges students to create and present a comprehensive financial plan centered on data provided during the course. The B.S. program also requires an internship, so students gain on-the-job experience they can apply to future clients and employers.

Study one of the most crucial aspects of human connection: language. It's how we communicate, record our past and understand the world around us. Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Specifically, it looks at how humans acquire language, the structures of language and how language influences the ways in which humans interact with and think about the world. Students in the Bachelor of Arts program with an Academic and Professional emphasis learn from world-renowned faculty (including the University of Arizona's own Noam Chomsky, a thought leader in linguistics) that includes experts in language documentation and revitalization, especially for Native American languages. Throughout the program, students examine language structures, the relationships between language and cognition, computational linguistics, literature, social constructs and psycholinguistics.

Students pursuing an emphasis in Sustainable Buildings within the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program explore the science and practice the techniques behind building energy efficiency. Hands-on coursework includes such topics as climate-responsive design, net-zero energy design, energy conservation, passive solar design and natural ventilation systems. In this interdisciplinary program, students learn how to analyze existing and planned structures and use critical-thinking skills and solutions-based strategies to create workable plans to make those buildings more efficient. Students graduate with a practical understanding of sustainability principles and expertise in built environment policy and design.
