Communities are always in need of individuals who have expertise on how to make learning accessible for all. Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Literacy, Learning and Leadership fill lead roles in a wide range of fields, including volunteer programming, nonprofit work, youth services, and community education and outreach. The undergraduate experience teaches students how to design traditional and digital instruction that turns complex ideas into understandable and accessible content and empowers individuals from diverse backgrounds to engage in learning outside of the traditional school setting. Students also earn academic credit and gain valuable work experience through internships at a variety of local, national and international organizations.

Engage in meaningful study about human life, from our hominid origins millions of years ago to the wide-ranging spectrum of populations in the world today. Anthropology is the study of all aspects of human existence. Students in this Bachelor of Arts program learn to ask questions about essential components of the human experience, such as language, cultural development, environment and biology. Guided by respected anthropologists, students hone their ability to describe, interpret and predict human behavior, a skill applicable to industries as far-reaching as journalism and technology. The coursework relies on an integrated approach that focuses on four subdisciplines: cultural, linguistic and biological anthropologies, plus archaeology. The School of Anthropology is ranked among the top five programs in the country.

Nurture a greener and healthier tomorrow with a degree that innovates new, sustainable ways to keep food fresh. The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Fresh Produce Safety track advance the latest methods for maintaining the safety of food one of the most important resources on Earth. In this Yuma-based program, students discover how production chains become contaminated with diseases, and learn Good Agricultural Practices for the harvest of leafy greens and fresh-vegetable food safety. Coursework provides insight into food safety issues, field risk assessments, facility sanitation and inspection processes. Students gain real-life experience in the applications of soil, water and plant sciences, including soil chemistry, plant nutrition and hydroponics.

As a journalist, you'll be at the forefront of a rapidly changing world that relies on a news cycle that runs 24/7. Journalism teaches the ins and outs of researching and reporting the news. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Broadcast Journalism focuses on reporting the news for radio, television and multimedia outlets. The program of study touches on important aspects of journalism such as law and ethics before diving into hands-on learning. Broadcast majors write, report, fact-check, shoot, produce and edit hard-news features and in-depth stories for broadcast and the web, culminating in quality news reports that can be included on reels to share with prospective employers. Electives in digital media, such as drone videography or mobile app development, can further prepare students for this ever-evolving field. A second major or a minor in a specialized field, such as political science, religion or Middle Eastern studies, is required.

Global Studies teaches students to think critically about global issues from a variety of disciplines. This Bachelor of Arts uses intellectual and experiential frameworks to empower students to analyze, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Literature Arts and Film emphasis educates future leaders of the new global society, a role that requires a high level of intercultural and multilingual competence. Students discover the critical part that cultural production plays in the international landscape and equips them with the skills to shape that landscape. Students become adaptable to unfamiliar environments and are able to assess cultural differences in professional settings and communicate well with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The Creative Writing program offers students the opportunity to develop their skills for creative written expression. Workshops led by an internationally renowned faculty aim to help students write well-crafted and compelling works of prose and poetry. Additionally, coursework in literature and literary analysis teaches critical thinking and research efficiencies, while classes in publishing share real-world insights into the writing profession. This Bachelor of Arts program of study not only gives students widely applicable tools that can be used across myriad industries, but it also offers a Professional and Technical Writing certificate and grants access to some of today's most important and influential writers.

Study one of the most crucial aspects of human connection: language. It's how we communicate, record our past and understand the world around us. Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Specifically, it looks at how humans acquire language, the structures of language and how language influences the ways in which humans interact with and think about the world. Students in the Bachelor of Arts program with an Academic and Professional emphasis learn from world-renowned faculty (including the University of Arizona's own Noam Chomsky, a thought leader in linguistics) that includes experts in language documentation and revitalization, especially for Native American languages. Throughout the program, students examine language structures, the relationships between language and cognition, computational linguistics, literature, social constructs and psycholinguistics.

At the Fred Fox School of Music internationally regarded in music instruction students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Bassoon emphasis benefit from individualized lessons and personal attention tailored to their unique needs and career goals. Students can audition for the Bassoon Studio, where they'll partake in weekly lessons and studio classes, guest-artist master classes, performance opportunities and clinician-led workshops in orchestral repertoire, entrepreneurship and even performance anxiety. While learning from a faculty comprising renowned artists, performers and scholars, students enjoy access to a state-of-the-art recording studio, a visiting composer series and the Arizona Contemporary Ensemble.

Explore the important and diverse benefits of animals in our world - from companionship and entertainment to food and service. The Science and Pre-professional emphasis relies heavily on science courses, from animal anatomy to cell biology. This path of study is geared toward students inclined to professions such as veterinarian, animal caretakers or breeders. Faculty and mentors associated with the program challenge students to apply their studies to address real-world challenges in the animal industry and agribusiness. This degree also provides a strong foundation for advanced study in graduate, medical, pharmacy or law school.
