Join the new green economy with an in-depth look at sustainable land development and real estate finance. Teaching students how to conceptualize and manage sustainable and responsible real estate development is a critical objective of the Sustainable Real Estate Development Emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program. Coursework focuses on sustainable practices, urban design, real estate finance, site development and construction. Students learn practical business skills such as accounting, marketing and economics. The faculty are leaders in the real estate development field and their interdisciplinary approach to this program features collaborative learning environments that build skills in innovative thought, creativity, problem-solving and teamwork.

Whether you possess a natural talent for rhythm or wish to develop one, your studies in percussion will grant you a diverse range of professional opportunities. The Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Percussion emphasis is designed to develop in students the highest possible level of musicianship and competency in performance and teaching. The faculty at the Fred Fox School of Music instructs and mentors students in percussion methods, chamber percussion groups and percussion ensembles. The curriculum presents students with a relevant sequence of study of all the percussion instruments. Students acquire performance skills and experience in solo and ensemble performance; historical and stylistic understanding; mastery of technical facility; and pedagogical concepts of teaching procedure and practice.

Delve into the complex world of information systems and computational methods, and transform data into the real-world information humans use every day. A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.

Learning Outcomes

Aerospace engineers advance space exploration and improve aircraft design. Aerospace and defense is one of the strongest industrial sectors in the United States; Arizona is a significant player, and the University of Arizona is a major pipeline for aerospace engineers. Students in the Aerospace Engineering Bachelor of Science program learn to design and maintain spacecraft, commercial aircraft, fighter jets, missiles, rockets and satellites. They graduate with working knowledge of aerodynamics, control system design, gas dynamics, solid and fluid mechanics, and thermodynamics. Undergraduates complete industry-sponsored capstone projects, some of which become commercial products. They also have opportunities to test materials in the university's array of wind tunnels ?the newest of which shoots air at Mach 4 and Mach 5 to study the effects of flight at hypersonic speeds.

With its own recording studio and a host of performance ensembles, the Fred Fox School of Music is one of the highest-ranked in the nation. Students seeking their Bachelor of Music in Performance with a String Bass emphasis take 89 units of music courses. In addition to choosing electives, students satisfy core classes in music literature, music history, pedagogy, orchestration, conducting, piano and applied lessons. As part of the requirements, they audition for placement in a large conducted ensemble, where they'll have the opportunity to perform with other high-caliber student musicians.

This math degree provides a solid base for graduate studies in finance and beyond. Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with an Economics and Business emphasis develop a deep theoretical knowledge of the mathematics underlying economics and finance. They will choose a related minor; options include Finance, Economics, or Personal and Family Financial Planning. Undergraduates gain a foundation in mathematical concepts that can be applied across a variety of industries. Whether students aim to address broader economic issues or prefer to focus on banking, finance or economic forecasting, their skill set will be in high demand.

Explore the concepts of ecology and genetics in an evolutionary context in the first department of its kind in the world. The field of ecology and evolutionary biology deals with the integration of biological systems across all levels of organization, from molecular biology to global ecosystems. This Bachelor of Science is for the student planning to pursue graduate study or a career in ecology and evolutionary biology, or a related scientific field. The Bachelor of Arts prepares students for careers that require having scientific knowledge, such as scientific journalism, developing environmental and scientific policy or practicing law in related fields. The curriculum includes core courses in genetics, ecology and evolution, with additional study through involvement in independent research, usually by working in the labs of our faculty. Students also have access to certain field courses.

Students earning the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an emphasis in Euphonium can take advantage of the Fred Fox School of Music's two concert bands, a select wind ensemble, two jazz bands, numerous jazz combos and a large and challenging orchestra program. In addition to these performance opportunities, students benefit from personalized attention and instruction. This includes a weekly lesson, a studio class, daily warm-ups and technique classes, plus ensemble and chamber coaching. The School of Music averages between 450 and 550 students, which provides opportunities that are typically only offered at larger schools of music.

Be on the forefront of advancements in the agricultural industry - from horticultural management and crop production to animal agriculture. Agriculture has evolved from hand hoes and sickles to today's tools: drones, crop sensors and drought-resistant plants. Students who select the Agricultural Technology Management emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology Management and Education specialize in one of six areas: controlled environment agriculture, field crop production and management, information systems, horticulture management, turf grass management or animal agriculture. They will develop a strong foundation of technical expertise and field experience, learning how to use technology and modern techniques. Coursework focuses on skill development in areas such as lab and shop safety, applications in agricultural mechanics, operations in urban agricultural mechanization, and irrigation and turf maintenance.
