The Bachelor of Science in Food Safety is housed within the School of Animal and Comparative Biomedical Sciences and looks at how food science, regulation and law pertain to public and ecosystem health and sustainability. Projections estimate the food sector will need to safely produce, package and distribute sustenance for 9 billion people by 2050. That challenge requires innovation and collaboration as governments and businesses look to leaders who understand the opportunities and constraints in this complex industry. This interdisciplinary program trains students to become those leaders.

Our planet is more than meets the eye. Explore the history of Earth's climate, global change, ocean science and modern climate dynamics. Students who select the Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with an Earth, Oceans and Climate (EOC) emphasis are immersed in an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the planet. Students gain an understanding of the history of Earth's climate, global change, ocean science and modern climate dynamics. They learn scientific research skills and work with data and technology in the field and in the laboratory. EOC students participate in hands-on capstone research or field experience, typically in the latter part of their program. Graduates pursue careers in environmental geology and scientific research in fields such as oceanography, climate science, surficial processes, paleoclimate, paleoecology and more.

Armed with an understanding of the soil-plant relationship, discover plant systems that maximize production, conserve resources and minimize environmental damage. The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Agronomy track expand their knowledge of crop production. Plants are the foundation of biodiversity, global climate and the sustainability of the planet. As such, increased crop yields, reduced use of land and improved efficiency are key to healthy ecosystems and sustained human life. This interdisciplinary degree draws on coursework from basic and applied plant and soil science and features small classes and hands-on training. Students focus on developing low water use and disease-resistant plants that maximize crop yield and plant health in fields where land size constrains production.

Work with internationally renowned Latin American scholars on critical topics facing these communities, such as gender issues, health at the border and environmental concerns. This program delves into the languages, cultures, history and politics of Latin America. The Bachelor of Arts emphasizes community engagement, foreign language acquisition and international relations. This degree pairs well as a second major to almost any other degree program at the University of Arizona, from business and public health to journalism and food studies. Students are encouraged to study abroad in Mexico, Central America, South America or the Hispanic Caribbean, as well as participate in internships at organizations like the Coalition for Human Rights, Barrio Stories and the National Law Center for Inter-American Free Trade.

Be an integral part of the most influential media of our time in film and television ?with a degree that helps shape tomorrow's cultural leaders. The Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television prepares students for creative, business, legal and academic careers in film and television. The program integrates historical and critical analysis with industry studies to cultivate informed and responsible media consumers and creators. Students gain a comprehensive understanding of the contemporary media landscape through courses in film and television, including history and aesthetic analysis; industry practices; producing; representations of race, class and gender; global movements; genres; and artists. Students have numerous opportunities to intern with media professionals locally, regionally and in major production centers such as Los Angeles and New York.

Chemistry is the study of the properties and reactions of the natural and synthetic substances that constitute the world around us. The Bachelor of Science in Chemistry brings together the disciplines of physics, materials science, medicine and biology to give students a strong theoretical background while teaching them how to apply that knowledge to a range of biological and physical systems. Coursework is enhanced by state-of-the-art research facilities with multi-user capabilities in computational chemistry, surface analysis, nuclear magnetic resonance and photoelectron spectroscopy, and more. How do social movements start? How do leaders gain power? Can governments run efficiently? Gain insight into these topics and more with a degree that explores political ideas. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. When students embark on a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Ideas and Methods, they focus on theoretical questions that lead to real-world change. Students explore the processes, principles and structures of government and political institutions in the U.S. and in countries around the globe. Coursework covers international relations, political theory, foreign affairs, methodology and institutions, and includes hands-on internship opportunities at nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Students graduate with important writing, critical thinking and analytical skills.

Push the boundaries of art what it is, how it's made, what it communicates with a program of study that spans mediums. The 3D and Extended Media emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Studio Art is grounded in an interdisciplinary understanding of traditional and experimental practice. This includes sculpture, ceramics, performance, installation and new-generation digital art practices. The program enhances students' artistic development with coursework that promotes conceptual investigation and an understanding of contemporary issues through the exploration of diverse media. Students achieve expertise through technical processes and learn from faculty members who offer in-depth expertise gained from a long history of practice in, and engagement with, art at national and international levels. Students develop professionalism in technical skills, conceptual formulation and critical thinking.

Graduates with a Bachelor of Science in Literacy, Learning and Leadership fill lead roles in a wide range of fields, including volunteer programming, nonprofit work, youth services, and community education and outreach. The undergraduate experience teaches students how to design traditional and digital instruction that turns complex ideas into understandable and accessible content and empowers individuals from diverse backgrounds to engage in learning outside of the traditional school setting. Students also earn academic credit and gain valuable work experience through internships at a variety of local, national and international organizations.
