The Bachelor of Science in Personal & Family Financial Planning introduces students to the core elements of financial planning and wealth management. Students enhance their studies with courses in law and ethics, personal and family dynamics, retirement strategies, risk management, federal income taxation and tax codes, professional conduct, fiduciary responsibility, investments and more. The capstone project challenges students to create and present a comprehensive financial plan centered on data provided during the course. Food studies is a rapidly growing field in North America as the demand increases for experts in food-related policy, food justice and food culture. Students in this new Bachelor of Arts program (offered in collaboration with the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences) prepare to become change-makers in the world's food system through an interdisciplinary approach to examining food in all its dimensions: cultural, economic, health and environmental. Tucson is an ideal setting for food studies; it recently earned the coveted honor of a UNESCO City of Gastronomy and was the first city in the U.S. to gain the designation.

If proficiency in both Spanish and Portuguese is important to you, consider the Spanish and Portuguese emphasis under the Spanish major. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Spanish and Portuguese emphasis take language, literature, linguistics and culture courses in both languages. The major consists of 18 credits in each language, and placement exams help determine a student's starting level. The University of Arizona is home to one of the largest Portuguese language programs in the nation, and various clubs offer students the opportunity to practice conversing in either Spanish or Portuguese outside of the classroom. In addition to several study abroad programs for Spanish-speaking students, the university offers a six-week program in Fortaleza, Brazil, for those wanting to immerse themselves in Portuguese.

The New Venture Development Program at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship offers selected students a one-year immersion curriculum during their senior year. In collaboration with their peers and with entrepreneurs serving as mentors, students build a new venture from the ground up and hone their entrepreneurial and business leadership skill set in the process.
