If proficiency in both Spanish and Portuguese is important to you, consider the Spanish and Portuguese emphasis under the Spanish major. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Spanish and Portuguese emphasis take language, literature, linguistics and culture courses in both languages. The major consists of 18 credits in each language, and placement exams help determine a student's starting level. The University of Arizona is home to one of the largest Portuguese language programs in the nation, and various clubs offer students the opportunity to practice conversing in either Spanish or Portuguese outside of the classroom. In addition to several study abroad programs for Spanish-speaking students, the university offers a six-week program in Fortaleza, Brazil, for those wanting to immerse themselves in Portuguese.

Explore the concepts of ecology and genetics in an evolutionary context in the first department of its kind in the world. The field of ecology and evolutionary biology deals with the integration of biological systems across all levels of organization, from molecular biology to global ecosystems. This Bachelor of Science is for the student planning to pursue graduate study or a career in ecology and evolutionary biology, or a related scientific field. The Bachelor of Arts prepares students for careers that require having scientific knowledge, such as scientific journalism, developing environmental and scientific policy or practicing law in related fields. The curriculum includes core courses in genetics, ecology and evolution, with additional study through involvement in independent research, usually by working in the labs of our faculty. Students also have access to certain field courses.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theatre gives students the preparation they need for a professional career in the theatre industry, thanks to the program's rigorous core curriculum in acting, voice, movement and performance. Coursework includes Stanislavsky-based acting training; voice and movement studio work; private voice lessons; general voice classes; performance classes in various styles and genres; dance fundamentals; and professional development and business strategies. Students enjoy numerous opportunities to perform, including onstage, in film and through the Arizona Repertory Theatre and the Arizona Theatre Company.

Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Foreign Affairs uses humanistic and scientific perspectives to examine relationships among societies in countries and regions around the world. Students are introduced to concepts in politics, policy issues and the structure of governments. For those interested in law, civil service or foreign service, the Foreign Affairs emphasis is a good fit. Be on the forefront of advancements in the agricultural industry - from horticultural management and crop production to animal agriculture. Agriculture has evolved from hand hoes and sickles to today's tools: drones, crop sensors and drought-resistant plants. Students who select the Agricultural Technology Management emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Technology Management and Education specialize in one of six areas: controlled environment agriculture, field crop production and management, information systems, horticulture management, turf grass management or animal agriculture. They will develop a strong foundation of technical expertise and field experience, learning how to use technology and modern techniques. Coursework focuses on skill development in areas such as lab and shop safety, applications in agricultural mechanics, operations in urban agricultural mechanization, and irrigation and turf maintenance.
