How do social movements start? How do leaders gain power? Can governments run efficiently? Gain insight into these topics and more with a degree that explores political ideas. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. When students embark on a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Ideas and Methods, they focus on theoretical questions that lead to real-world change. Students explore the processes, principles and structures of government and political institutions in the U.S. and in countries around the globe. Coursework covers international relations, political theory, foreign affairs, methodology and institutions, and includes hands-on internship opportunities at nonprofit organizations and government agencies. Students graduate with important writing, critical thinking and analytical skills.

The versatile skill set of electrical and computer engineers is in high demand across a range of industries, including energy, health care, aerospace, manufacturing, information technology and homeland security. Electrical and computer engineering is a hotbed of entrepreneurialism, welcoming new technology startups every year and often involving students at all levels of and contributing to advances in wireless technology, smart energy grids and the myriad electronic devices we use every day. The Bachelor of Science in Geography with a Geographic Information Science emphasis offers courses in cutting-edge GIS and geographic information systems technology (GIST) to fill the growing worldwide demand for skilled geospatial professionals. The program offers courses in remote sensing, cartography, spatial modeling, and the application of GIS for land assessment, wildlife conservation, transportation and the social sciences. Students also gain skills in mathematical and computational thinking, problem-solving, and oral and written communication. Students pursuing a Geography major with a GIS emphasis have access to courses that will help them become technologically proficient in GIS programming, project management, spatial data integration and management, and the production of spatial data visualizations for print, multimedia and mobile environments.

If you have a mind for data and analysis and want to use it to help others, consider majoring in Public Health with a Quantitative Methods in Public Health emphasis. The public health field always has a need for analytical minds for tracking and prevention of disease. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science with a major in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Students pursuing the Quantitative Methods in Public Health emphasis take courses on the acquisition, assessment, analysis, management and communication of health data. They also study health research and epidemiology. In addition, undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience in their area of interest.

In the Bachelor of Science program for Agribusiness Economics and Management, students can select one of two tracks; the Agribusiness Management emphasis focuses on critical management issues dealing with people, food, land, water and other natural resources.
