The Creative Writing program offers students the opportunity to develop their skills for creative written expression. Workshops led by an internationally renowned faculty aim to help students write well-crafted and compelling works of prose and poetry. If you have a strong drive and entrepreneurial spirit, set your aspirations on the highly lauded, one-year New Venture Development Program.  Students wishing to add a second major to another course of study at the University of Arizona's Eller College of Management have the option of applying to the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Entrepreneurship. The New Venture Development Program at the McGuire Center for Entrepreneurship offers selected students a one-year immersion curriculum during their senior year. In collaboration with their peers and with entrepreneurs serving as mentors, students build a new venture from the ground up and hone their entrepreneurial and business leadership skill set in the process. Ranked in the nation's top 10 programs, the B.S.B.A. in Entrepreneurship is highly selective, and accepted students graduate with a competitive edge.

The Bachelor of Arts with a Digital Journalism emphasis provides students with a solid foundation in journalism reporting and ethics while helping them develop the digital skills they need to excel in the world of online reporting. Journalism students learn to gather information, interview subjects, analyze the content, distill it and then communicate to an audience effectively, accurately, quickly and ethically. Student seeking a Digital Journalism emphasis also hone advanced skills ranging from media entrepreneurship and app development to visual storytelling and data mining that further prepare them for this rapidly evolving field. A second major or a minor in a specialized field, such as political science, religion or Middle Eastern studies, is required.

Study one of the most crucial aspects of human connection: language. It's how we communicate, record our past and understand the world around us. Linguistics is the scientific study of language. Specifically, it looks at how humans acquire language, the structures of language and how language influences the ways in which humans interact with and think about the world. Students in the Bachelor of Arts program with an Academic and Professional emphasis learn from world-renowned faculty (including the University of Arizona's own Noam Chomsky, a thought leader in linguistics) that includes experts in language documentation and revitalization, especially for Native American languages. Throughout the program, students examine language structures, the relationships between language and cognition, computational linguistics, literature, social constructs and psycholinguistics.

Identify important strategies, such as green infrastructure and water harvesting, that we can employ to design innovative and sustainable landscapes. The importance of the role that landscapes play in the built environment is at the center of the Sustainable Landscapes Emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program. Students learn about environmental design, planning and management challenges and how to overcome them. Students study subjects such as water harvesting, passive cooling, urban heat island mitigation, climate adaptability, and how landscapes can improve human health. They also explore urban ecology, natural resource management and environmental policy. Upon graduation, students have a deeper understanding of how landscapes play a pivotal role in a community and the ways to make them more sustainable.

For an international career in diplomacy, political development and security, look no further than a program of study that focuses on foreign affairs. Political science is the study of government, public policy and the political behavior of individuals and groups. The Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with an emphasis in Foreign Affairs uses humanistic and scientific perspectives to examine relationships among societies in countries and regions around the world. Students are introduced to concepts in politics, policy issues and the structure of governments. For those interested in law, civil service or foreign service, the Foreign Affairs emphasis is a good fit. It combines coursework from international relations and comparative politics, along with the basics of political science. The Science and Pre-professional emphasis relies heavily on science courses, from animal anatomy to cell biology. This path of study is geared toward students inclined to professions such as veterinarian, animal caretakers or breeders. Faculty and mentors associated with the program challenge students to apply their studies to address real-world challenges in the animal industry and agribusiness. The Bachelor of Arts in Africana Studies investigates the historical and contemporary experiences of Africana peoples and how they are shaped by gender, class, race and global conditions. Students choose from one of three emphases: African American History, Culture & Aesthetics; Comparative Global African Diaspora; or Performance, Media, & Digital Africana Studies. This interdisciplinary major gives students essential professional skills applicable to many careers, including the ability to understand people from any background; writing; critical thinking; public speaking; creativity; leadership; and initiative. Classes focus on literature, history, culture, film, technology, arts, politics and more. The program is a leader in digital learning and boasts the nation's first Hip-Hop minor.
