Global Studies teaches students to think critically about global issues from a variety of disciplines. This Bachelor of Arts uses intellectual and experiential frameworks to empower students to analyze, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Literature Arts and Film emphasis educates future leaders of the new global society, a role that requires a high level of intercultural and multilingual competence. Students discover the critical part that cultural production plays in the international landscape and equips them with the skills to shape that landscape. Students become adaptable to unfamiliar environments and are able to assess cultural differences in professional settings and communicate well with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Plant Systems has four tracks; students in the Controlled Environment Agriculture track cultivate technologies to efficiently produce plants and plant-based products. Students learn how to use environmentally, socially and economically sustainable growing systems in arid lands and urban settings. Thanks to the university's location in Tucson, this interdisciplinary program pioneers the study of arid agriculture. If you seek satisfying career opportunities for music performance or education and you want to perfect your own technique as a clarinet musician this degree is for you. To earn the Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Clarinet emphasis, students take classes in settings of individualized study and personal attention. The Fred Fox School of Music offers students access to an electro-acoustic music studio, a recording studio with 24-track analog and digital recording, and a composer series that features internationally renowned composers. Within the Clarinet Studio, students take weekly classes in reeds, new music and career development. Students are encouraged to be creative, entrepreneurial, goal-oriented and collaborative. They also have the opportunity to attend hundreds of live performances and learn from world-class faculty and guest artists.

Immerse yourself in the culture of past, present and future Japan. Students in the Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program pick from one of two emphases: language or culture. The Japanese Culture Intensive emphasis introduces students to the traditions, history, culture and religion of Japan, including some instruction in the Japanese language. Understanding the nuances of this nation in the third-largest economy in the world and is essential for students who wish to work internationally or gain a global mindset. Skills acquired include articulate communication, critical thinking, research and argument construction. Students are encouraged to pursue opportunities to study abroad in Japan.

The conservatory-style program for the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre Production with a Professional Actors Training Program emphasis prepares students to embark on a career as a working actor. Small class sizes allow faculty to focus individualized attention on students, encouraging collaboration and experimentation. Classes include eight semesters of Stanislavsky-based acting training; four semesters of voice and movement; stage combat classes; audition technique courses; screen acting classes; and professional development and business acumen that culminate in a showcase for leading industry professionals in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and major regional markets.

Examine the social dimensions of health and health care in directly applicable ways, making for an impactful career within a helping profession. The Care, Health and Society major equips students who plan to pursue careers in medical professions and offers a broader perspective of how health care integrates within the context of social interaction, social institutions and social structures. This interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science incorporates coursework from the social sciences, science and humanities, and offers a fully online option. The program complements training in public health and front-line health care careers, providing students with the toolkit necessary to address persistent population health issues, inform public health initiatives and combat barriers to health care delivery. Students obtain analytical, organizational and advocacy skills for the helping professions.

Students pursuing the Bachelor of Music in Performance with an Oboe emphasis learn in a variety of settings: private lessons, weekly master classes, weekly reed labs, large ensembles, chamber music and guest-artists master classes. In addition to the Fred Fox School of Music's highly personalized instruction in a supportive learning environment, oboe students get access to the school's professional recording studio and reed workshop, where they can utilize reed-making tools, including top-quality gouging and shaping equipment. The school is home to two orchestras, two wind ensembles, the Pride of Arizona Marching Band and the University of Arizona Jazz Ensemble, among others.

A degree in Information Science and Technology helps students build the mathematical and computational foundation they need to analyze  and grow in the digital world. This Bachelor of Science leans more heavily on the technical side of information science, including requirements for higher math and specialized courses, than the Bachelor of Arts in Information Science in our program. Students take courses in advanced computing techniques, machine learning, data science, artificial intelligence and theories of new media. Paired with a minor or second major in computer science, math or business, this program equips students for professions that aim to shape the digital landscape, from data engineers to user experience (UX) designers.
