The Bachelor of Arts in East Asian Studies program asks students to choose from one of two emphases and language or culture. The two differ in the amount of language students learn. The Chinese Culture Intensive focus requires less language and provides a strong foundation in Chinese history, religion, culture and society. Students learn how to articulate the commonalities, complexity and diversity within and across Chinese culture. As the second-largest economy in the world, China is a significant player on the international stage, and a degree specializing in Chinese culture offers a wealth of professional opportunities.

Forge a deeper understanding of how aspects of race and gender discrimination overlap, and then learn ways to dismantle the systems that keep those factors in place. Gender and Women's Studies is an interdisciplinary Bachelor of Arts that works to contest historical, ongoing and pervasive oppression based on gender, race, sexuality, class, ability and citizenship. Students can opt for an emphasis in Chicana and Latina Studies, a course of study that works with the Gender and Women's Studies department's prestigious Southwest Institute for Research on Women (SIROW). Established in 1979, SIROW develops research-action projects of importance to women in the Southwestern U.S. and the Mexico-U.S. border regions. The Gender and Women's Studies department, founded in 1975 and led by a renowned faculty, stands at the forefront of feminist research and curriculum.

If you're interested in environmental health, protection of natural resources, and safety for workers and communities, consider a Public Health major with an Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis. Public health professionals specializing in environmental and occupational health help protect communities and workers from health risks such as contaminates or hazardous living or working conditions. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. Students choosing the Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis focus on environmental justice, public health preparedness, industrial impact, sanitation, and safety fundamentals. Undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience. Environmental and Occupational Health emphasis students wishing to also earn their Master of Public Health can do so in an accelerated program.

The Fred Fox School of Music ranks among the nation's top musical institutions. Classes include voice, music reading, diction for singers and more. The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance is a professional degree that provides students with technical training and performance experience. The program's triple-track design means students can study ballet, modern and jazz with equal emphasis. Students approach the study of dance as an art form and also as a means to understand society, history, the human body and other areas of scholarly endeavor. The core curriculum includes history, research in world dance, biomechanics, improvisation, choreography, music, musical theatre vocal training, production, and career planning. Majors may choose to emphasize ballet, modern or jazz dance in their technical classes and in performance, or maintain a broad, diverse approach.
