Identify and assess global trends in political, financial and social areas and become an empowered leader who communicates and inspires across cultural boundaries. Global Studies is an interdisciplinary approach to thinking critically about global issues. This Bachelor of Arts is structured around intellectual and experiential frameworks that empower students to analyze, adapt, communicate, problem-solve and empathize. The Global Political and Economy emphasis examines the mechanisms of order and disorder, and cooperation and conflict among humans. It also explores the major types of formal organizations, including nation-states, international or transnational organizations, and nongovernment organizations. Students gain knowledge of diverse global institutions and their political, economic, social and cultural impacts on the world. They also develop ""global competency"" by obtaining the necessary skills for engaging in problem-solving across boundaries.

If a career in Spanish language translation or interpretation interests you, the University of Arizona has a specific Spanish major emphasis to train students at the undergraduate level. Spanish language translators and interpreters are in high demand across health care, legal, nonprofit and business settings. Students wishing to earn their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Translation and Interpretation emphasis gain Spanish language immersion while learning linguistics and translation and interpretation theory and practice. The Bachelor of Arts major in Italian with a Language and Literature emphasis offers an interdisciplinary approach that focuses on the study of the Italian language. In this program one of the largest Italian programs in the country students acquire a high level of proficiency in reading, writing and speaking Italian. In addition to the study of language, coursework covers the literary and artistic aspects of Italian culture and their contributions to the world; milestones and major events in Italian history; and modern Italian culture, current events and politics. Combining the fundamental concepts of business administration and entrepreneurial leadership with the collaborative, global, intercultural, and future-oriented practices of the humanities, this emphasis-capped with a public or private internship-prepares you for working in emerging fields connected to national and international business administration.

Learn how a Thematic emphasis within the Neuroscience and Cognitive Science major allows you to focus on a specific topic of interest. Neuroscience and cognitive science are broad areas of scientific study. Students seeking the Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Cognitive Science with a Thematic emphasis can choose an in-depth topical focus that matches their future career, research or study goals. The Thematic emphasis is meant for students who have a clear and compelling interest in a particular topic area in neuroscience and cognitive science that falls outside the scope of the major's several other emphases. Students wishing to choose a Thematic focus will be required to explain to faculty what the topic area is and why it doesn't align with the current emphases, as well as support the objectives of their coursework. As with the other emphases, research and independent study can be used for up to six of the 15 credits required to complete an emphasis.

The program offers a progressive approach to the practice of photography, asking students to question and expand the boundaries of the medium. Students take courses in traditional black-and-white darkroom techniques, digital and other image-forming technologies, color processes, large-scale photography, video and performance.
