Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.

Urban and Regional Development is the study of economic development and sustainability of our built and natural environments. This Bachelor of Science addresses questions of urban and regional growth, location of economic activity, land development and real estate. Students learn to analyze data, use cartographic and geographic information systems and gain hands-on training in the field. Additionally, students learn interactively in remote-sensing laboratories. Upon graduation, they enter the workforce with directly applicable skills such as teamwork and collaboration; analytical research; a working knowledge of industry software; design; strategic thinking; and understanding of planning law and legislation.

As the first Bachelor of Arts in Law in the country, this degree is designed to meet the high demand for professionals with legal training across a wide spectrum of careers. Law provides the base for many professions, from human rights advocacy to politics, and the rigorous academics involved give students a highly sought-after set of skills. Undergraduates in the Law B.A. program, the first of its kind in the nation, receive instruction from faculty in the College of Law and the School of Government and Public Policy. Students learn key foundational aspects of law, such as criminal and civil procedure, contracts and torts, while specialized internships in real-world environments allow them to home in on areas of interest. Not only is this degree an essential component for careers in which legal training is a distinct advantage, but it also can provide an expedited path to law school or the university's accelerated master's option, where students can earn a Master of Legal Studies in just one extra semester

Communication is the scientific study of how humans interact with one another. Students in the Bachelor of Arts in Communication program examine the processes and effects of communication in four areas: interpersonal, mass, health and social influence. Because communication is the most fundamental social behavior by which individuals function, its study is relevant to a wide range of academic and career interests. Coursework focuses on learning to write clearly, effectively and persuasively; understanding how to convey complex ideas simply; developing critical thinking skills; and identifying how to thoughtfully consume media. The academic study of philosophy is the pursuit of the fundamental truths about people, the world in which they inhabit and their relationships to each other. This Bachelor of Arts prepares students to continue graduate work in philosophy, especially those interested in law school. Philosophy majors thoughtfully dissect questions such as, ""Do our perceptions represent the way things really are?"" The Bachelor of General Studies with an emphasis on Science, Technology, Health and Society teaches students how to employ math and science to find solutions to important world concerns in areas such as health, natural resources, conservation, sustainability, information science and engineering. Not only does this program encourage collaboration and creative thinking to find workable solutions, but it also gives students an understanding of the global context that surrounds science and technology. Additionally, students develop a critical awareness of the methods and limits of scientific inquiry while fostering observational and analytical skills, as well as skills in quantitative analysis and deductive reasoning.

Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with a Computer Science emphasis are immersed in core mathematics coursework, as well as more specialized courses focusing on the logic and concepts underpinning advances in computer science. If proficiency in both Spanish and Portuguese is important to you, consider the Spanish and Portuguese emphasis under the Spanish major. Students seeking their Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a Spanish and Portuguese emphasis take language, literature, linguistics and culture courses in both languages. The major consists of 18 credits in each language, and placement exams help determine a student's starting level. The University of Arizona is home to one of the largest Portuguese language programs in the nation, and various clubs offer students the opportunity to practice conversing in either Spanish or Portuguese outside of the classroom.
