Overview
Identify important strategies, such as green infrastructure and water harvesting, that we can employ to design innovative and sustainable landscapes. The importance of the role that landscapes play in the built environment is at the center of the Sustainable Landscapes Emphasis of the Bachelor of Science in Sustainable Built Environments program. Students learn about environmental design, planning and management challenges and how to overcome them. Students study subjects such as water harvesting, passive cooling, urban heat island mitigation, climate adaptability, and how landscapes can improve human health. They also explore urban ecology, natural resource management and environmental policy. Upon graduation, students have a deeper understanding of how landscapes play a pivotal role in a community and the ways to make them more sustainable.

Optional Practical Training or OPT is a period during which students, who have completed their degrees in the USA, are permitted to work for one year on a student visa by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). OPT allows students to work for up to 3 years and develop real-world skills to survive in the competitive jobs market.
It is temporary employment for a period of 12-months that is directly related to the major area of study of an F-1 student. Eligible students have the option to apply for OPT employment authorization before completing their academic studies and/or after completing their academic studies.
A student can participate in three types of Optional Practical Training (OPT):

At the Fred Fox School of Music, students enjoy close interaction with the esteemed faculty, all of whom are artists in their own right and who've performed at the world's greatest concert halls and received numerous accolades as musicians. Students can audition for the Harp Studio, which offers weekly private lessons, a studio class, the study of harp pedagogy, orchestral coaching, mock auditions and master classes with guest artists. Students can take advantage of opportunities to arrange, compose, record and tour with HarpFusion. Upon graduation, students are equipped for roles as performing artists, teachers, administrators and music scholars.

A focus on applied mathematics prepares you to enter the job market with an undergraduate degree or to attend graduate school for science or engineering. Students earning a Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics with an Applied Mathematics emphasis engage in interdisciplinary study with core mathematics courses and a minor that is independent of the Department of Mathematics. Undergraduates also must complete a minor outside the Department of Mathematics. The Bachelor of Music in Performance with a Percussion emphasis is designed to develop in students the highest possible level of musicianship and competency in performance and teaching. The faculty at the Fred Fox School of Music instructs and mentors students in percussion methods, chamber percussion groups and percussion ensembles. The curriculum presents students with a relevant sequence of study of all the percussion instruments. Students acquire performance skills and experience in solo and ensemble performance; historical and stylistic understanding; mastery of technical facility; and pedagogical concepts of teaching procedure and practice.
