Learn how to communicate through art with a course of study that sharpens your technical ability while defining your concepts. The 2D emphasis in the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Studio Art asks students to specialize in one of two areas: Painting & Drawing, or Printmaking. Students develop skills in their specialization through courses that advance contemporary and historical awareness of the discipline. Faculty members from Painting, Drawing and Printmaking are committed to interdisciplinary approaches. Students enjoy printmaking facilities offering traditional and technologically based processes, and can use oil, acrylic and dry media in the painting and drawing facilities. Elective courses provide students with a chance to explore subjects inside and outside their areas of emphasis, such as collage, installation and watercolor.

The program provides instruction in the languages, cultures, and civilizations of East Asia (China, Japan, and Korea); Asian humanities and religions; and Asian-American studies. Individual programs may emphasize the language, linguistics, literature, history, thought, religion, and society (ancient or modern) of more than one cultural area (China, Japan, or Korea). Students may specialize in the East Asian region or one or more discipline-focused studies of East Asian subjects. Advanced study of Chinese, Japanese, or Korean is required.

Discover how the immersion into another culture can help you navigate an increasingly connected world. The Bachelor of Arts in French offers two emphases. The French and Francophone focus suits students with wide-ranging interests in French and Francophone studies to complete a French major without taking all courses in French. After completing the core requirements in French language, students take courses in the major that are taught in English. Students benefit from a diverse program, with coursework in language, literature and culture. There are also opportunities to study abroad in Paris, which is one of the oldest and most established study abroad programs at the University of Arizona.

Become proficient in tectonics, geophysics and geodynamics to gain greater understanding of our planet - from its inner core to the depths of the oceans to the outer reaches of space. The Bachelor of Science in Geosciences with a Geophysics emphasis takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the planet. The program covers topics such as tectonics, geophysics and geodynamics, as well as Earth system modeling, remote sensing and seismology. Students learn quantitative scientific research skills and gain experience working with data and technology in the field and in the laboratory. Geophysics students participate in a Capstone Summer Field Camp in the later part of their program that provides hands-on experience applying their content knowledge in the field. The Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, Politics, Economics and Law is an interdisciplinary major that offers a comprehensive perspective of current social, economic and political issues. The content draws on courses from philosophy, politics and economics, but the heart of the program is a set of specialized core courses designed exclusively for majors. These are taught in small classroom settings by distinguished faculty with appointments in philosophy, political science, economics and law. Urban and Regional Development is the study of economic development and sustainability of our built and natural environments. This Bachelor of Science addresses questions of urban and regional growth, location of economic activity, land development and real estate. Students learn to analyze data, use cartographic and geographic information systems and gain hands-on training in the field. Additionally, students learn interactively in remote-sensing laboratories. Do you want to help individuals in diverse populations and communities? Consider majoring in the Public Health Practice emphasis. Public health professionals design and implement programs to ensure all communities have access to crucial health services and safe living conditions. The University of Arizona's Bachelor of Science with a major in Public Health is accredited by the Council on Education for Public Health. The Public Health Practice emphasis is one of several areas of concentration within the major. Public Health Practice students study health program evaluation, health policy, law and ethics. Undergraduates complement their coursework with an internship that provides them with professional public health experience working with underserved populations. Majoring in World Literature exposes you to a variety of languages and cultures, providing a solid foundation for careers in industries locally or abroad. Students earning their Bachelor of Arts in World Literature gain advanced proficiency in at least one language other than English while cultivating cross-cultural literacy. An immersion in ancient and modern literature from a variety of regions broadens students' understanding of the human condition and the ideas and concepts that foster global connection. The B.A. in World Literature is a collaboration between the university's College of Humanities and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences. The major sets students up for careers in media, tourism, international business and other positions for which well-rounded, empathetic individuals are in high demand.

In today's digital world, where information is disseminated in seconds, a journalist's role is that of truth-seeker for the masses. The Bachelor of Arts in Journalism with an emphasis in Global Journalism equips students for careers in national and international news reporting.
