The Care, Health and Society major equips students who plan to pursue careers in medical professions and offers a broader perspective of how health care integrates within the context of social interaction, social institutions and social structures. This interdisciplinary Bachelor of Science incorporates coursework from the social sciences, science and humanities, and offers a fully online option. The program complements training in public health and front-line health care careers, providing students with the toolkit necessary to address persistent population health issues, inform public health initiatives and combat barriers to health care delivery. Students obtain analytical, organizational and advocacy skills for the helping professions.

The world has thousands of languages. Study linguistics to understand the root of all language: human connection and communication. Linguistics is concerned with the nature of language and communication. Particularly, how humans learn language and how language influences the ways people interact and think about the world. In the Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics with an emphasis in Linguistics and Languages, students acquire an understanding of how language is structured in phonology, morphology, syntax both in a general sense and regarding specific languages. Students also learn how languages vary and discover the unconscious knowledge that all humans possess about language. The renowned faculty includes preeminent linguist Noam Chomsky, as well as experts in language documentation and revitalization, especially for Native American languages.

Food systems is the study of the food supply chain, which includes production, processing, distribution, and consumption as well as waste. Drivers of the food system include culture, economics, policy, and marketing, and the collective impact on outcomes including human and environmental health, food insecurity, and community food security. The Nutrition and Food Systems degree is an interdisciplinary approach to understanding the complexities of the food system from production to consumption and impact on human health, as well as challenges faced by the food system to develop sustainable solutions for producing, processing, delivering, and consuming safe, culturally desirable, nutritious, and economically and environmentally sustainable food. The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is committed to training emerging leaders who will address grand challenges facing humanity, including management and preservation of precious and finite natural resources, and finding solutions to feed over 9 billion people by 2050.

The Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Television trains students to become directors, producers, screenwriters, cinematographers, editors, sound designers and other industry leaders. The Bachelor of Music in Performance major with a Composition emphasis prepares student composers to meet the challenges and opportunities of an ever-changing profession. The Fred Fox School of Music offers coursework in which students receive intensive private instruction in music composition in traditional and electro-acoustic media from award-winning faculty members. In addition, students take classes in music theory, improvisation, music history, orchestration and conducting. The faculty strives to provide students with a fundamental understanding of the aesthetics of musical design and the operations of creators, performers and listeners as they use music to shape their world.

Take an interdisciplinary, application-based approach to physics to equip yourself for a career solving real-world problems. The Bachelor of Science in Applied Physics is an interdisciplinary program that combines a broad interest in physics with practical career skills, networking opportunities and experience that equips students for real-world problem-solving. In addition to broad study of physics, students take technical elective courses in the areas of science, engineering, math or programming, along with courses in data, statistics or monitoring and communications. Students are required to complete an Engineering Senior Design Project. Alternatively, interdisciplinary design or internship experience can be considered on a case-by-case basis. The B.S. in Applied Physics serves as a launchpad for careers in the private sector or for advanced study in applications such as engineering and medicine.

Journalism is the field of researching and reporting the news through a variety of media. This Bachelor of Arts introduces students to the fundamentals of journalism, including important aspects of the field such as law and ethics. Students learn to gather information, interview subjects, analyze the content, distill it and then communicate to an audience effectively, accurately, quickly and ethically. While students get exposure to all aspects of journalism, they can also specialize in broadcast or global journalism, even opting for coursework in digital media, such as drone videography or app development, to further prepare them for this always-changing field. A second major or a minor in a specialized field, such as political science, religion or Middle Eastern studies, is required.

They master a variety of mathematical problem-solving methods. Upon graduation, students are primed to apply their quantitative and computational knowledge and logical thinking skills across industries like engineering, technology, natural science, manufacturing, business and government. Others choose to further their education in science or engineering graduate studies, taking on challenging research projects.
