The M.S. in Engineering program is intended to develop graduate students’ knowledge in the advanced fields.

The program offers a wide range of engineering science courses that prepare students to make significant contributions in advanced manufacturing technologies. The carefully integrated educational offerings at the University enable the student to be exposed to a wide range of professional education possibilities in their selected fields of specialization. A capstone thesis based project is required at the completion of program.

The Interior Design Program at Jefferson is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA) and a top ranked undergraduate program in the U.S. Known for our excellence in interior design education we prepare graduates for successful careers in the evolving global marketplace. Our mission is to prepare students to be independent thinkers, innovative problem solvers, collaborators and leaders with high standards of professionalism, integrity and excellence in design. With an emphasis on creativity, balanced with the knowledge and skills required for meaningful contributions to the interior design profession, we instill in students an understanding of the global, cultural, social, aesthetic, technoligical, environmental and ethical responsibilities inherent to the design of interior environments.

The Bachelor of Science in Interior Design program is grounded in the belief that the interior designer mediates between the human experience and the built environment and should enter the global marketplace as articulate, creative, inspired and socially aware design professionals. The program integrates collaborative, interdisciplinary and study abroad opporunities broadening students' knowledge and abilities. Our Philadelphia location provides a multitued of options for internships, memberships in professional organizations, and partnerships with community organizations and industry professionals, all of which give our students a unique advantage with real-world hands-on experience.

The Master of Science in Microbiology & Immunology Program offers choices for career specialization with flexible schedules, professional training for academic credit and academic preparation for national professional certification.

The broad-based curriculum includes a minimum of 40 credits. Course content includes:

Master's research thesis or, alternatively, a Non-Thesis Option
The program may be completed on a part-time or accelerated (coursework) schedule over a period of 1.5 to four years. Courses are offered late afternoon/early evening and meet once per week, allowing students the flexibility to work while taking classes or devote their full attention to their studies. Flexibility is the key. .

Jefferson’s M.S. in Historic Preservation not only prepares graduates to preserve historic buildings and sites, but also to re-envision and re-purpose the past to serve present and future needs. The curriculum foregrounds adaptive reuse of historic structures as well as in-depth analysis through historical research and graphic documentation. Students develop skills fundamental to assess the condition and evolution of buildings and promote the ways historic structures order the urban fabric, contribute to healthy communities, and facilitate “place-making” as a catalyst for community revitalization. Students apply new and rapidly evolving digital technologies for managing, documenting and interpreting culturally significant structures and places.

As the first UNESCO World Heritage City in the United States, Philadelphia is a living laboratory of architectural styles and periods, offering a wealth of real-world projects and internship opportunities utilizing buildings and technologies, dating from 18th century Georgian through mid-20th century Modern.

At Jefferson’s new Center for the Preservation of Modernism, students develop preservation protocols tailored to the unique character of early and mid-century modern architecture, the next preservation frontier as these buildings age, and may study the preservation of modernist architecture abroad at the iconic Bauhaus Building in Dessau, Germany or at the Giuseppe Terragni Archive in Como, Italy.
Students customize their course of study by selecting one of two tracks: Research and Documentation; or Preservation Design; and specialize in a field compatible with their track drawn from the College of Architecture and the Built Environment’s graduate offerings including Sustainable Design, Geographic Information Systems, Façade Technologies, Architectural History or Real Estate Development. The curriculum affords students the freedom to explore topics that suit their interests and further their professional goals.

The M.S. in Taxation Program at Jefferson (Philadelphia University + Thomas Jefferson University) is geared toward practicing accountants in the fields of public, corporate, and governmental accounting as well as lawyers, financial managers and planners who need extensive information and formal study in taxation. The program prepares students for professional tax practice whether they are earning their degree, expanding their expertise on a specific topic, or taking courses to maintain their CPA license. We offer full-time and part-time options to accommodate work schedules and to allow students to earn their degrees rapidly.

The faculty includes partners and managers from national, regional, and local CPA firms, noted tax attorneys, and specialists in many areas such as financial planning and state and local taxation. They work for highly visible national and regional firms, and bring an exceptional standard of practice and expertise to the classroom.

Students in the program learn state-of-the-art online research methods that will help them stay current with a wide range of tax authorities throughout their careers. Our dynamic, comprehensive curriculum is uniquely practitioner-focused, giving a competitive edge for the professional world. Our graduates are well prepared to further their current careers and to excel in challenging, exciting positions in the public and private sectors.

One of our strengths is our close-knit community, and that is by design. Faculty work closely with all VDC students as they progress through a series of 8 core design studios. This begins with design foundations, and progresses through courses in typography, user experience, branding, digital strategy, systems design, and culminates with a self-authored, senior design capstone project and portfolio.

The program provides training in a diverse combination of skills, including a strong understanding of design principles, typography and image making, the capacity to plan and design for human-centered products, interactions and experiences, an ability to harness the latest digital technologies and experience working in collaborative interdisciplinary environments.

These educational experiences are enhanced through our faculty’s expertise, industry and client sponsored projects, internships, guest speakers, workshops, studio visits, study abroad opportunities, and minors.

The Jefferson Communication program prepares students for today’s media marketplace through a broad-based education that emphasizes storytelling, critical thinking, creative problem-solving, and multimedia skills development.

The program tailors itself to the unique career goals of each student, and provides the key skills necessary to transition into new areas of communications, as the marketplace continues to change and grow.

Graduates of the MS in Pharmaceutical Sciences will demonstrate expertise in the design and application of research methodologies to meet the needs of the evolving biomedical and pharmaceutical industries and academic laboratories. The curriculum provides instruction in all phases of the drug and biologic development process including preclinical drug discovery and development (computational design and synthesis of new molecular entities and molecular characterization), screening and formulation, analytical support for clinical trials, health care pharmacogenomics profiling, metabolite analysis, pharmacokinetic characterization and pharmacodynamics.

The program is part of the Jefferson College of Pharmacy (JCP) and offered in collaboration with Jefferson College of Life Sciences. The program may be completed on either a full-time or part-time course of study and students enrolling in this 34 credit MS program may select either a thesis or non-thesis track.

The groundbreaking M.S. in International Fashion Design Management program is developed to create the next generation of fashion professionals for a complex global fashion system. Students are invited to create their own path, and customize the experience to focus on different tracks with global opportunities right at their fingertips. By moving beyond the hand-crafted approach to fashion, students will have the opportunity to focus on design as a strategic function, integrated along the cycle of research and design, product development, branding and distribution.

This 30-credit degree offers flexible hybrid and virtual components. During the final semester, students participate in an outbound experience, which is student led and faculty advised to allow students to research and study in any region in the world. Students select a mentor and location, and determine the length of their stay in that region to offer more flexibility. During the final semester, participants create a project that demonstrates topic mastery through synthesis of knowledge and skills inspired from their previous coursework.

The M.S. in User Experience and Interaction Design is an 18-month to two-year on-campus program made up of 31-37 credits, depending on an applicant’s qualifications upon entering the program. This program is designed to prepare working professionals and recent college graduates to expand their careers into the rapidly moving fields of User Experience Design (UX) and Interaction Design (IxD).

The role of User Experience (UX) and Interaction Design (IxD) expands as digital technology allows for more and more innovative applications. For these reasons, a M.S. in User Experience and Interaction Design degree prepares graduates with the necessary skills to evolve the standards of communication and interaction.
